Needless to say I’m rooting for Michigan and the Tar Heels, even though I don’t really like either team.

I won’t be sorry if UCONN wins it all. They’re my sentimental pick.

Speaking of advertisers, y’all should click through on the new Coupon Dad ad. He’s got some seemingly useful coupons across some good categories. I just checked food and pets, and am delighted to see that in pets he includes a link to free or low cost spay/neuter programs for cats. You click through to this great site that breaks them out by state.
Lovethatcat.com. I checked NC and am pleased to see two that I am aware of in surrounding counties listed.
    Nice service Coupon Dad!

Not content with threatening John with kicking his "you know what", now she’s sending coded, castration anxiety provoking messages… Give the woman everything she wants, Cole, or now you know what will happen.

I know this is a tournament open thread but I will be a little OT (focus on the open part of that phrase)–reading Politico (yes I know, that false puppy alarm had me going back) i see a new meme getting formed: Michelle Obama is the bomb, Obama The Pres not so much. Yeah they sort of like him in Europe, and though everyone thinks he had a great trip (using diplomacy twice to make sure the G20 and NATO meetings did not go off the rails) he did not accomplish anything (he is spinning that things went well) and they think he is arrogant and aloof.

Yeah I know, why am I reading Politico? And why pay attention? I just find it fascinating how these (often contradictory) memes come out and how they adapt when one of them gets obliterated (see, Michelle is a liability). So now she is great and the one who had a sucky trip was her husband.

    rant over.

@asiangrrlMN: I don’t have any feelings about Nova, one way or the other. Actually, I usually pick them to go further than I did this year because I kind of like their name. I probably would have advanced them more in my bracket if I had understood the bonus rules better.

I don’t even really care about b-ball all that much and don’t know jack about the teams. I just love being in a pool for March Madness because it gives me a reason to interested in the games. But in as much as I follow it, I’m originally from CT so I have a soft spot for UCONN.

I feel guilty for doing so well this year, and being excited about it, since it’s such a fluke. I join a pool every year and this is the best I’ve ever done. I’ve never had a shot a winning before by this late in the games.

Wow. I’m impressed with John’s ad-space-fu. You’re using Project Wonderful which is mostly webcomics, and you’re outpulling Schlock Mercenary, Anders Loves Maria, Alien Loves Predator, Girls With Slingshots, Sluggy Freelance…

Balloon Juice has the tenth most high-bidded skyscraper ad on ALL of Project Wonderful thanks to the madness of Laura W :D

Hell, it’s the #18 top paying ad of ANY ad on PW of ANY kind.

High FIVE, dude. (also, thanks for reminding me to poke around on PW looking at how various sites are doing trafficwise :)

@Throwin Stones: You went to the Ohio State? I didn’t actually go to the U of M, but they are the closest thing to a Division I school for whom I can root.

Libby, hey, sometimes it’s easier to pick if you don’t over-analyze. I love sports, but I often pick teams based on their unis and whether they are underdogs or not. My favorite color is black, so any team wearing black gets a slight edge.

    @asiangrrlMN:

    Thankyou very much.

Wall 2 was taken in Portugal, in a little town called Evora. In the 16th century, they built an entire chapel – the Capela dos Ossos – out of bones from the local cemetery. Most of the "decoration" is done with different kinds of bones in pretty patterns. Add in the two dessicated corpses hanging from the wall, and you would imagine it would be creepy, but it’s actually quite serene. It’s made even odder however because just behind it is a children’s school, so you can hear the screams and shouts of kids playing through the tiny windows.

@asiangrrlMN: yep, Miami Ohio. We had a good football team in the mid-to-late 70’s, then again when Big Ben was in school. We’ve had a few good basketball teams with Ron Harper and Wally Szczerbiak. One of my favorite T-shirts – Miami was a University when Florida belonged to Spain.

Has anyone else read the Sullivan-sized revisionism in The American Conservative? Jimmy fucking Carter as a true Conservative? The "Malaise" speech as "one of the most conservative presidential statements of the last 30 years"?
