Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

When do the post office & the dmv weigh in on the wuhan virus?

“woke” is the new caravan.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Everybody saw this coming.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

I really should read my own blog.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

We still have time to mess this up!

Come on, man.

And I missed the first ten minutes because my cable box said it was on Versus and it is actually on FSP.

Go Pens! Don’t leave us for three months with nothing but the Pirates until the NFL starts.

Our local paper printed cut-out dolls of famous Pens players that could be used to make voodoo dolls. Hockey here in Montreal is serious business.

    Congrats!

I’ve got zero interest in hockey, unless it’s Olympic hockey because I watch Winter Olympics anything, but I like penguins in general. So I’ll cheer on the Penguins.

Do they ever bring any real live penguins to the hockey games? Like for the entertainment between the periods or something?

@Strandedvandal: The best thing about a Montreal win tonight is that Leafs fans are going to start going insane at the idea that the Habs might win another Cup. Anything that gets under their skin is good by me.

Interesting about Versus; seems local broadcasts are RSN (FSP, CSNPhilly for Flyers) with reverse coverage on Versus. Let us know if you get the Flyers/Boston game on Versus if you would.

I used to travel to Toronto a lot for work, and the best games to see were the Sabres/Leafs games in Buffalo. Man those fans hate each other! Good times.

Non-hockey: I’m currently reading a graphic novel called Whatever Happened to the World of Tomorrow. It’s a sweet father and son story that traces the sense of wonder around space that begins during the 1939 World’s Fair and moves through the moon launches. I haven’t finished it yet so I don’t know what’s covered past that– a good review is at http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2009/11/whatever-happened-to-the-world-of-tomorrow/. I recommend it as an excellent Father’s Day present. Especially if your dad loves hard sf.

I’m very cautious with graphic novels–I never did get into the Sandman/V -is for Vendetta Alan Moore/Neil Gaiman kind of stuff. But I do love the (comics?) books that capture the mood/history of a place and require the image and the word working together to tell a story. My favorite is Guy Delisle’s Pyongyang, which captures what I imagine is the surreal life working as a foreigner in N. Korea. I also like Shaun Tan, who completely captures a place without saying a word.

Do others here like graphic novels?

Some fans have been known to bring other aquatic life to games. It’s not pretty.

OTOH, octopi are pretty dexterous and have the potential to be pretty good stick handlers. Stay tuned. Evolution is a wonderful thing.

It was actually below freezing last night and may be again tonight so hockey in mid-May isn’t quite as irritating as it usually is. But, hey, they play hockey in TX and AZ now so what the fuck do I know. You see? I had to go and, like, do actual billable work, then fix the mystery flat in my front tire tube. (Pro tip: if you can’t see or hear a leak in a semi-inflated tube, and you can’t feel it blowing against your cheek or lips, submerge the tube in sections in a sink full of water and look for the bubbles.)

Then I tuned in to the CBC, was in AGONY as they failed to show the score for 30 whole seconds, then found I was looking at the last 10 seconds of a 5-2 game.

Sorry, Pens and fans. You’re good guys, but we were way overdue for a chance at the finals.

Bummer, I take it the coward Matt Cooke still has licorice chicklets in his mealy mouth? I was kind of hoping that he’d keep playing until his nickname was Gummy Bear. Oh well, maybe he’ll lose the rest riding around on Big Ben’s Hog this summer.

Very depressing to watch the Canadians doing one of those ‘riots’ in the streets. The entire planet is populated by cretins these days. Can we just call the whole thing off, it’s May and nobody should be playing hockey this time of year anyway.

Only a tiny minority of people went Downtown to break shop windows… Not the fans who were attending the game. Most of the “rioters” were arrested either on the spot, or later, thanks to the fans that video taped them on their cell phones and turned them over to the cops.

    Go Habs Go!!!
