Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

This really is a full service blog.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

… gradually, and then suddenly.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

Republicans in disarray!

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

This blog will pay for itself.

Bark louder, little dog.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

The hated Browns today.

*** Update ***

I don’t want to start a panic, but I can not find Tunch and have not seen him all day. I think he may have gotten out somehow. I’m kind of freaked.

off topic, but quite the balanced round table panel on this week today: bush apologist matthew dowd, meghan “spawn of grandpa mcgrumpy” mc cain, the ever-incisive terry moran, and – of course – nancy reagan’s favorite lapdog george will.
i’m sure it was just because all the dems were out campaigning this weekend.

I just love the name Colt McCoy. Of course he was the QB for Texas. Where else with a name like that? He could also have a career on the professional rodeo circuit. Seems like every other bull rider and calf roper there is named Colt.

It sucks here in York, PA. This is predominantly a Steelers area, but because we are within 90 miles of Baltimore we are forced to watch the Ravens instead of Steelers today. First they wound us by taking the Steelers game away and then ask us if we want some salt with that by putting the Ravens in their place.

I have to wonder what some of the Miami coaches are doing. Lydon Murtha seems to be a walking penalty machine, and either you pound the basics into his head, or you bench him. I will add that I thought Bonamego should have been canned last year.

Cats normally come back. Mr. Nils, my wild and rambling boy, once vanished for a couple of weeks — admittedly, after I vanished for a month (to Mozambique). (My neighbor was feeding him.) He had adopted another house, but he came home after I spent a few evenings wandering around the neighborhood meowing for him. (My neighbors knew me, so no, they did not think I had gone insane.)

That was in 1999, in California. Eleven years, two moves, and 3000 miles later, he’s still around.

I worry that Tunch has hunted down a bird, rabbit, and/or bear by now and is sated, so the tuna might not be that interesting.

“Hunting down” implies successful pursuit. This is Tunch we’re talking about. Maybe a turtle.

@MMM: I actually closed my cat in the fridge once, at my mother’s house. I could hear her meow back to me when I called, but it took a good 30+ minutes to figure out where she was. Given how angry she was when I finally opened the door (she’d been telling me where she was, after all), only a couple of broken plates seemed like a small price to pay.

    @morzer:

Tunch may simply have slipped into feline interspace. It’s a dimension that cats can access and humans cannot. He’ll probably reappear mysteriously in an area you had searched extensively, with an enigmatic expression and no interest in explaining.

My son read a book called “Time Cat” when he was in 2nd grade. The premise was that many cats can time-travel & frequently do, to make sure history happens correctly (or some such plot). He remains convinced (he’s 18 now) that one of our cats does the same thing–she is very mysterious. Here’s hoping Tunch is just off running his ancient Egyptian empire or something. Sending good thoughts your way.

I was referring to Tunch chasing a real Bear, not Cutler.

Just for the record, I have a lot of sympathy for Jay. It’s hard to play QB from your effing back. The O-line is terrible. They don’t run the ball enough. They’re not a good football team.

Thus Seattle +6.5 with 11 confidence points. Got 13 on the Cowboys, even though I want the Vikings to win, because I really, really hate the Cowboys, all of their loser fans, and everything they stand for.

I really thought they might have finally got Flacco to stop thinking, but he still just shows flashes of excellence – too many problems still. Bad:
