Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

All hail the time of the bunny!

From TaMara, our Food Goddess:

I’ve decided this will be our traditional Thursday Night before Christmas Menu. One quick note, if you haven’t seen it, JeffW has a great shot our blog mascot and his hero…
__
This is my traditional Christmas morning breakfast. These are simple to make and taste so good. And of course I’ve included a recipe for Santa’s cookies, ‘cause you know the better the cookies, the better the presents he leaves you, so you don’t want to be leaving any store-bought cookies. On the board tonight:
__
__
1. German Pancakes
__
2. Walnut Syrup
__
3. Sliced Peaches
__
4. Santa Cookies

Recipes and shopping list at the link.

(P.S. from Anne Laurie: My apologies for the late posting — I misremembered that there wasn’t gonna be a Thursday Nite Menu this week.)

I’ll guess that Buddy is the Brittney and Homer is the feline understudy. What a sweet pair like German pancakes and walnut syrup!

    What beautiful, dignified, photogenic animals!

My traditional Christmas morning breakfast is bagels and lox.

My mom splurged once a long time ago, and I insisted that it become a tradition. Because yum. And now I can pick up some previously frozen, vacuum-packed smoked salmon for $4.99.

There are some red candles in the clawset; I’m going to light them up ay-and; let it be Christmas.

Our traditional Christmas morning breakfast is French toast. That walnut syrup looks goooooooood.

Christmas Eve is all about nibbles, and then we’re having venison stew for dinner.

I love that photo! They are both beautiful and even more so together. The photographer is not too bad either. We eat tamales the night before and for breakfast, too, with eggs of some kind.

The most lovely of expressions of love in the photo.
Our traditional breakfast for tomorrow is a farm one of days past in G’s youth.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.

Definitely a great picture! They are both giving looks as if to say the photographer has interrupted their communion.

Great news: the teabaggers (the ones on the right) are threatening to primary Scott Brown! Woot!

Love German pancakes — I like them with lemon juice and powdered sugar, altho I could be persuaded to try that walnut syrup…

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone. Santa’s gotta get busy here!

Again I double post. Must adjust pad on new laptop. Anyway, now I’ll tell you I was successful in my attempt to adapt Nigella’s Clementine Orange cake to cranberries. Photos and recipe on the dinner blog later if cranberries are your thing.

I see this as an opportunity for the Tea Partiers to further marginalize themselves. A great Christmas present for us all!

Awwww, Homer is growing up so fast. Yet, he’s still so incredibly cute. Homer and his Buddy! Great photo.
