Watch her body language as he’s giving a brief bio of her film and tv career. The way her eyes look up when he gets to Mad Men. Oh good lord, she’s still acting!

Had a thought on the bus this morning regarding the indictment against John Edwards. Usually these things take place after some RW rage-a-thon about how nothing’s being done about this latest national trauma. So, I was thinking, way too optimistically I am sure, that perhaps this is a prelude to Wall Street prosecutions or prosecutions of some GOPers on similar grounds and going after Edwards give them a solid arrow in their righteousness quiver that it is not about prosecutorial persecution of Obama’s enemies.

Huge MM fan. Still hate the ending of season 4. Hate hate hate the direction Matt W took this.

In which Bobo goes to bat for Ryan’s “premium support plan.”
Keep it up Brooksey! You’re going to help hand us the House back!
As an aside: When Brooks says this to express his derision about gubmint programs and their largess…
…we have no idea which dollar year(s) he is using to make this comparison: 1967 dollars? 1990? 2011? One from column A & one from column B? Who knows? But, uh…bureaucracy bad!

@gypsy howell: Can’t bring yourself to spell out the W?

@tomvox1: He borrowed mcmegan’s calculator.

@tomvox1:
One has to wonder if Bobo has ever heard of a thing called “inflation”, or if the figures provided were discussed in 1967 dollars projected out to 1990. Some context would be cool, here.
But Bobo’s intellectual dishonesty is legend, so I’ll let y’all make the call.

Today is the 10th anniversary of the first of G.W. Bush’s tax cuts. Meteor Blades has a good posting at GOS about them.

I’m weinered out for the week.
I guess you could say two weiners have let me down.

Last day of my vacation. You won’t have WereBear to kick around anymore!
Sorry; that last was a Nixon quote.
I got a lot done, like creating my new website on iWeb. Go ahead and make fun!
The Snarxist Formerly Known As Kryptik
A GOP State rep. in NC gets letters from a third grade class, protesting state budget cuts to education. One of the letters happens to be from his daughter. His response? Blame the left and the evil schools for holding his daughter hostage and FORCING her to write a bad letter to him for their own pockets and ideology.
PurpleGirl
@WereBear: Awww!!! Kitteh pictures are cute — especially the one where the cat is being tickled. Hoping you have much success with the new site.

@PurpleGirl: I just saw your link to Douthat’s opinion on Shiavo. Thanks for the research.

OT, sort of…the web does this thing…
That link goes to CBS, and they’re characterizing Weiner’s leaked photo as “explicit”. Um, no. A rascal wrapped in cloth is not “explicit”, unless they care to describe the package displayed by the deserting coward as he stepped onto the flight deck of the Abraham Lincoln as “explicit”.
But, then again, IOKIYAR applies. Silly me.

Thanks for the Mad Men fix…and Meghan’s teeth. Please don’t hurt her Don.

and Obama. Also too.

OK, I’ll say it: Is it just me? Am I the only MM devotee who thought this young lady’s acting on the series was HORRIBLE? She looks great in mid century clothing, this is for sure; like she stepped right out of a 1964 Life Magazine ad, but good god, the woman is wooden and there is just something weird in her affect that put me off and seemed inauthentic.
Also, too, furthermore, and additionally: Can we talk about the overbite? Jessica is beautiful until she talks and then one keeps wondering what’s with the buck teeth? My partner and I discussed several times if it was possible that Weiner had her wearing prosthetic teeth for some bizarre plot reason. Perhaps she would turn out to be a Soviet spy in disguise?
Either way, the first time Draper kissed her character, I expected her to pull back from the lip lock with Don’s severed tongue clenched between her horse teeth.

@Tim, Interrupted:
No it isn’t you. That’s all the MM-related blogs could talk about for weeks and weeks. And weirdly, Matt W even made a script point out of her teeth.
I don’t dislike Jessica Pare, but I just could NOT get into her character. Despite all the rapturous talk about MM’s stellar writing, I thought the whole Megan character was poorly written, and her story arc very stilted. Plus, it seriously creeped me out in every scene that she and Don were romantically involved. And the ending…. UGH. Turned me off to the whole season.

@gypsy howell:
Gypsy, now that you mention that, I do remember Don and Meghan on the balcony somewhere and her saying something about her teeth and him replying he thought they were beautiful or some such bullshit. Actually, I think it wise of Weiner to go ahead and acknowledge something everyone’s noticing anyway.
AS for the weirdness of their relationship, I agree, BUT it is creepy/off kilter stuff like that helps keep MM very interesting and keeps me coming back.
The engagement proposal and Don’s attraction to Meghan is very unbelievable and bizarre, UNLESS you consider that Don Draper may still be far stranger and bizarre than we have any idea. Sometimes I think I wouldn’t be terribly surprised to see him show up at the ex-wife’s and do a murder/suicide, kids and all.
Of course, I would not mourn Betty, but…
Gramsci
I can’t look at that host and not think about Billy Bob Thornton. I kept hoping Jessica would break out with, “Would you ask Tom Petty about Mad Men?!! Huh? Would you?!!”

Why hasn’t there been a front-page story on the Global Commission on Drug Policy’s finding that the War on Drugs is a failure and should be ended? Is it because Weiner’s weiner is of such surpassing importance?

@BerkeleyMom:
Unpossible!! You just know he’s going to crush her somehow.
I wasn’t crazy about the direction Season 4 took, but at least Megan is nice to little Sally Draper. Bet Sally’s gonna be a hellraiser in Season 5 though. I can’t wait!!
Skipjack
I think Jessica Pare had a real challenge on her hands to make Megan interesting beneath the surface. She says herself she didn’t know much about the character until near the end of the season, and anything she did to make herself “interesting” might have thrown off the more important ensemble work going on. She got a chance to show us much more of her character while they were in LA and I think that was sufficient to show how Don could pull a Roger.
Now that I’m used to her teeth I also think she’s totally gorgeous.
And for anyone who is surprised that an actor would act while being interviewed, don’t forget that they are there to work.
