Great stuff.

The Fox reporter handles himself well too. It’s a shame his employer refused to run this clip.

Update. Commenter beltane:

That man is Jesse LeGreca aka Ministry of Truth on Daily Kos.

First trick to sound biting: keep talking, breath on commas, forget periods. Second trick: keep it upbeat. Third trick: use any question as a suggestion for an opening rhetorical gambit, then strike off on your own.

    Classic stuff.

The Fox reporter handles himself well too.

It’s true. Sometimes keeping your mouth shut is a good way to handle yourself.

On the other hand, a commenter at Benen’s digs said that Jesse, the talker, was or is homeless. Maybe he needs that Faux guy’s job.

go Jesse! He was just amazingly articulate.

while both he & the reporter kept it civil, you can see the passion, anger & commitment flashing through in Jesse’s facial expressions.

I don’t know if “cute”is the first term that comes to my mind…. unless you mean “cute like an Ugly Doll”. He looks like Puglee, in a Union soldier hat.
But he’s an actual regular guy, not some aging faker who’s been living on media gravy for the past 30 years like Hank Williams Jr. That’s a helluva lot better than cute.
You know the biggest difference between him and most of white guys with his accent who get on TV a lot — he’s about 25 years younger than they are. And he doesn’t have all the goodies they do.

Like I mentioned in another thread earlier today, what slays me most about this is that the mope with the mic tries to defend Fox by saying that here he is, giving the guy a chance to have his say and be heard, would a real propaganda outlet do anything so magnanimous, blah blah. But when it comes to actually airing the interview, which would mean letting this guy, you know, actually be heard, well… ::crickets::

Also represents a change in tone; the LDS used to be cool with being thought of as a little bit “peculiar” and “set apart”. @Yutsano:

Speaking of Laphroaig — A few years ago an old friend died after a long period of dealing with Parkinson’s. His family were no less unconventional than he was, and there were some odd politics going on, and so there was no memorial service or anything. Therefore, several of us old friends and colleagues got together at my place for a wake, of sorts.

Two of his favorite things were Laphroaig and Lapsang Souchong tea — a common thread there, no? So in preparation for this, I got some Laphroaig — hadn’t had it in years, my booze consumption being very limited. And at the event, along with the tea, we drank a toast, those who wanted to. I was surprised, after all that time, at just how very good it is, and I remarked on that. At which, a woman I’ve known for a long time looked at me quzzically and asked, “In just what sense are you using the word ‘good'”?

Chacun à son gout, as Flanders and Swan said, pronouncing it as I’ve written it, the last word being in English.

@MikeJ: @suzanne: Now that you mention it, I remember those ads (guy on a bike helps jeep that sprayed him with mud), but I agree with Suzanne, these seem different. More directly aimed at “normazling” LDS, almost every one insisting on “I believe in God”

We can all see why FOX wouldn’t air this the segment with Jesse, but neither would any of the other news outlets if they had the opportunity. Even NPR, pushing so hard on the meme that the protesters have demands so all over the place that they are incoherent on their substantive message, would have to discount a spokesperson who can eloquently encapsulate a pretty obvious movement.

Not only must the media treat their viewers as idiots, the people on the other side of the lens have to act like them too. I keeps the game rolling along that way.
