Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Be a wild strawberry.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

Republicans do not trust women.

I don’t recall signing up for living in a dystopian sci-fi novel.

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Is trump is trying to break black America over his knee? signs point to ‘yes’.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

the 10% who apparently lack object permanence

Oh FFS you might as well trust a 6-year-old with a flamethrower.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

“In this country American means white. everybody else has to hyphenate.”

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

The lights are all blinking red.

This is the song reference from my last post, in a scene from The Tao of Steve (full song here, it’s a cover of this). Here’s an open thread.

@DougJ: There’s something up with the way the guy posted the video to YouTube so she looks even skinnier than in the film (where she’s pretty damn skinny, I grant you).

Why the hell isn’t Al Franken one of the 33?

@mistermix: Yeah, this pretty much sucks. I work for a food bank, and all the hunger-relief organizations that I know of have been pushing hard for Gillibrand’s amendment. What a shitty slap at people who are hurting. And for no reason – that amount of money gets pissed away by the military by lunchtime.

@SiubhanDuinne: What do they grow in Minnesota? Row crops, sugar beets, cheese and pretty much everything but fresh fruits and vegetables. Klobuchar was a No, too.

You know what irritates me the most about the idiots trying to boycott Dem conventions because apparently Obama is too Mulsimarxicommie Usurper for them to be associated with?

Guess what, too late. You’re already guilty by dint of the D by your name to the assholes you’re trying to court by publicly rejecting Obama and the party you’re members of. 2010 showed how far trying to out GOP the GOP and run screaming away from your own party worked. Hint: it didn’t.

But go ahead, you goddamned stupid twits. Keep trying to make the argument that Obama is some super lefty evil alien destroying the Dem party by moving it screaming leftward when the party is swinging rightward faster than ever. Goddamned fucking twits.

Franken’s office does not have a statement out on the vote. (I called) Harkin is also a no so it may just be a farming state constituency issue.

@lacp: The irony of course being that military families are one of the largest users of SNAP. But the opposition came from state eligibility rules that seemed easily fixable. But, you know, fuck the poor.

@Yutsano: We’ve been going round and round with this crap here in Pennsylvania, where they keep upping the bar on what assets people can have and still qualify for SNAP. All to “prevent fraud,” even though it’s been pointed out repeatedly that we have one of the lowest levels of SNAP fraud in the country. Fuck the poor indeed.
