This seems like the appropriate place to say FU to whichever commenter got “Do Me” by Bell Biv Devoe intermittently popping into my head the past couple weeks.
Here’s another thing that bored into my ear in the last couple of days: Cabaret (not Liza Minnelli, thank god).

There’s a Fleetwood Mac tribute featuring a bunch of indie bands due out in the fall, and some of the tracks are staring to appear in various places. I’m headed over to NPR to hear Best Coast’s take on “Rhiannon.” I fear that my pathetic, Humbert-esqe crush on Bethany Cosentino is about to get worse.

One of the special trials of parenthood is the Disney Earworm. Try functioning with “Circle of Life” or “Whistle While You Work” or “High-Ho” rattling around in your head. And then there are the more obscure Disney products… I’m ashamed to admit to having the theme song to “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure” stuck in my head for a few days.

India’s number on county music star. Debating whether to go to country music night next month when I’m in New Delhi now that I know that there is one.
@The prophet Nostradumbass: I think I am gonna have to track down the O Cracker Where Art Thou album tomorrow. I need to have a copy of that on my phone. Kinda like Radiodread, only different.
And there is always the Gourds’ bluegrass cover of Gin and Juice

I watched America’s Got Talent, and the producers oh-so-creatively used the “Tears stream… Down your face…” part of Coldplay’s “Fix You”, and I was reminded just how much I hate that overwrought piece of dreck. And now I have the over-dramatic chord part in my head. FUCK.

Here’s another one, obscurely referenced in one of DougJ’s posts, and the comments: Cracker

@piratedan: Yes, I’m a big Nick Lowe fan. Had Rockpile cranked just this afternoon.

I’ve had this version of Smells Like Teen Spirit stuck in my head for like two days straight. Not bad for an earworm.
Nom de Plume
First time I’ve heard The Beatles called “a weird earworm”. I usually just call them The Fucking Beatles.

@The prophet Nostradumbass: Have you heard the bluegrass version with David Lowery, Johnny Hickman and Leftover Salmon?
The prophet Nostradumbass
@MattR: I have now, and it’s pretty damn cool.
ETA: I want a banjo.

@Suffern ACE: Hey if the Muslins have one…

@MattR: Or the Dynamite Hack cover of Eazy E.
ETA: That Gin and Juice cover is awesome.
MattR
@The prophet Nostradumbass: That is definitely not what I expected.
(EDIT: There is also video on Youtube of Snoop’s reaction while listening to the Gourds version)

All day long today my earworm was Steely Dan’s song Show Biz Kids.

As earworms go, you could to a lot worse than the Beatles.

@vawolf1974: Indeed.

Fuckin’ idiots. Idiots then, and idiots now, in their Teatard and Paulista forms.

Back in the late ’80’s my alt-rock band covered this. Woo-ooooooos and all.
There’s nothing “weird” about this song, John. I think the word you’re looking for is AWESOME.
