Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

After roe, women are no longer free.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

Second rate reporter says what?

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Not all heroes wear capes.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Optimism opens the door to great things.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

This blog will pay for itself.

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

I’m outsourcing coverage of this one to Tbogg. I’m a softy so I like to think Breitbart’s still alive in Cuba with Tupac and Biggie and Jim Morrison, hiding from the drones.

I’m pretty sure one of Biggie’s ten rules was Never Do Anything With Andrew Breitbart. Or if not, he should’ve written 11.

This was really illuminating to me. I mean, Breitbart was a pathetic, obvious liar who got caught repeatedly making up smear stories. Why worship him? Because they know in their pus-filled hearts that they are Right and we are Wrong. Breitbart’s stories may not be true, but they’re True. This makes him a hero, willing to speak the Truth no one else will.

Pissing in a river, watching it rise
Tattoo fingers shy away from me
    Voices voices mesmerize
    Voices voices beckoning sea
Come come come come back come back
Come back come back come back

Spoke of a wheel, tip of a spoon
    Mouth of a cave, I’m a slave I’m free.
When are you coming ? Hope you come soon
    Fingers, fingers encircling thee
Come come come come come come
Come come come come come come for me oh

My bowels are empty, excreting your soul
What more can I give you ? Baby I don’t know
What more can I give you to make this thing grow?
Don’t turn your back now, I’m talking to you

@Frankensteinbeck: Only Andrew had the courage, the wherewithal, the unmitigated guile, to search for DA TROOF!! in all his honest and, dare I say it, sacred dealings with the terrible America destroying libz. He was a prince among men and a saint amongst thieves. His bravery shall be remembered by all who worshipped him as long as they live to tell the tale. Or the lawsuits over the money get settled.

I read part of the article about the woman who worked with O’Keefe and then was turned on by the group. The whole time I was thinking about what a bunch of over-privileged a*sholes they all seemed like. Their entire raison d’être seemed to be 1) to keep minorities from voting and 2) to harass people and organizations that help the poor. WTF? When did people on the right get so plan ole mean and petty? I know a lot of this is old news and I know R’s hate the poors and the Others, but just seeing a snippet of the level to which they wanted to discredit & attack those trying to help the less fortunate sickened me.

THAT group turned her on? Ewww! Even Michele Bachmann has better taste. Not much, but still.

it’s obvious that “they can’t handle the TRUTH” that women and people of various skin pigmentation are people too. That being poor doesn’t mean that you are any less of a person.

I get the sense that Breitbart looked at Al Sharpton’s behavior during the Tawana Brawley affair and asked, Hey, why can’t white people do that too?

    And a movement was born.

Dead Andy’s going to need more than necrophiliac sycophants resetting their calendars to achieve Hubbard status. He needs celebrity endorsers.

I wonder what Norris, Snowmobile Snooki and Craig T. Nelson are up to? Rodman back yet from NK?

@Seanly: This is not a new development, but, thanks to the mainstreaming of racism (Rush is a “great entertainer”, Coulter is a “satirist”, “both sides do it”) by the Axis of Propatainment, this behavior is now considered acceptable.

It’s gratifying to see that an organization so fixated on election fraud has their own in-house expert in Thad McCotter. Although wikipedia narrative of his re-election campaign does bear a suspicious resemblance to a Coen Brothers plot.

Channel surfing in the car this afternoon, I paused upon the dreadful Dennis Miller show. He and his callers were deifying Fatbart. They saw his hateful spirit as “playful, funny”. They claimed his “flame-throwing” really just belied an inquisitive soul in search of the truth. When they lie, when they insult someone, it’s all just in good fun. When a person on the left does something similar (or not even really that similar), it’s all just pure hate and intolerance and stupidity.

It’s astonishing to me how Republicans see themselves. It’s dismaying how they regard those of us on the left. I think we are drifting further and further apart and have almost no chance nowadays of finding something like common ground. This is 98% the fault of those on the right, but I am sure that here and there, once in a while anyway, we on the left do something a little bit similar. What do y’ll think?

Second goddamn thread I’ve killed today. Well, I guess the good news is that the deceased doesn’t generate much heat anymore in public debate. Perhaps he’s on his way to well-deserved oblivion.
