Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

No Justins, No Peace

Their freedom requires your slavery.

When do the post office & the dmv weigh in on the wuhan virus?

After roe, women are no longer free.

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

I did not have this on my fuck 2022 bingo card.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

DeSantis transforms Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

This really is a full service blog.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

“I never thought they’d lock HIM up,” sobbed a distraught member of the Lock Her Up Party.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

In my day, never was longer.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

“woke” is the new caravan.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I want more posts! Entertain me!

Okay, on the uh, new server. Feels like the old server? Maybe b/c it’s Sunday and traffic is low?

BTW, Cole. What’s the hardware on your new gaming PC?

Seems fast enough, but to be honest I’ve never really noticed much lag on the old hardware that couldn’t be attributed to extra-server (i.e. general network) causes. My guess is that the real test will come when we have another presidential debate crunchapalooza.

And now I’m going to hit “Submit Comment” and see just how long it takes to post this comment…

5 seconds. Not bad. And the “Click to Edit” delay was only 2 seconds. OK, seems faster than the old hardware.

@dewzke: At least the complaints will show up faster now.

ETA: The entire site shows up much faster, thanks a bunch for all the hard work on it.

What we need is a real test of server traffic. If we could pay Glenn Greenwald to tweet that Jane Hamshear told him that Obama is going to pardon Jerry Sandusky so that Donald Rumsfeld can award him the world peace prize at a Steelers game this fall, do you think that might get enough activity?

It would be nice if FYWP got front page video right – as it is most video embeds are ones that were posted days previously. Oddly if you click on the title/comment the embed works on that page.

    Edit is definitely faster.

I now have a fast connection but even so the speed up is very noticeable. When I was on dsl the site was pretty bad(slow) especially in commenting.

I had that problem for a while – it seems to have fixed itself (for me) somehow. It never bothered me too much because once I opened the post in a new tab the actual video would show up (and I recognized the old videos as just that. Yes, I am a Balloon Juice addict).

In other news, if anyone was wondering which body part I would manage to sunburn while riding 17 miles on the beach yesterday, the correct answer was “back of the knees.” Ouch. The ride was fun, though — Long Beach has a lovely and scenic bike path that’s not as crowded as, say, Venice or Manhattan Beach. Definitely worth the trip.

    The site is noticeably snappier…

You can really tell the difference when the pages initially load and when you submit a comment. Especially when loading the marathon 100+ comment posts.

so what so what so what’s the scenario?

@wmd: I’m on Firefox 19.0.2 and having no problems lately.

I do periodically clear all my cache, cookies and temp files with ATF file cleaner. (NOT a registry cleaner! NEVER use those!)

The weird thing is that a couple of months ago I lost the whole header on this site (with that stupid candy-striped half-balloon plus the search me box with what I believe is Tunch’s tail) it’s just totally blank up there.

Which I don’t mind since I know what site I’m on anyway. It may have to do with using NoScript on FF or maybe I’m just lucky ’cause I dislike that candy-striped half-balloon anyway.

Bring back the little guy with the cane and megaphone and striped pants! We love him, our precious ….. Then maybe I will do some research into why no header.

Barely noticeably faster until you actually comment and/or edit, and I also too think it’ll be more obvious once we get a hot thread going. I rather think all my neighbors streaming porn are affecting the speed more than anything on the BJ end of the pipe.
