Thoroughly Pizzled
Just shameful all around.
Bill Murray
30 minutes in, not much happening
Bill Murray
Ream I think, saves a Panama shot off the line, still 0-0
Bill Murray
Halftime, the US had zero offensive creativity in the 25 minutes I saw, were lucky to not be down more. Main changes to the lineup were Corona in for Beckerman, Ream in at left back with Johnson moving up to left midfield for Zardes, Zusi in for Bedoya and Wondolowski in for Dempsey. I don’t know if Wondo got within 10 feet of the ball while I was watching
Mike E
Woof. Nobody’s heart is in this one.
raven
Look like Spanish language TV is it.
Bill Murray
Roberto Nurse cuts inside Ream and Brooks (I think) and scores with a simple side footed strike. Panama 1-0
Cacti
Jurgen Klinsmann’s final match as head coach of the USMNT?
Mike E
Speaking of disinterested defense, Barcelona is licking stamps for the ManU exhibition game.
Bill Murray
@Cacti: Unlikely. Sunil Gulati has serious man wood for Klinsman and has since around 2008, at least when I talked to him about it.
and Dempsey scores off a nice run by Yedlin 1-1
Mike E
Send in the A Team!
Bill Murray
@Mike E: I think Barca is trying for the record for hitting the post. They are up to 4
Randinho
Per the Guardian, it’s 110 Fahrenheit on the field.
Mike E
@raven: From picturesque “Chester, Philadelphia”, heh…nice view of the Delaware River!
Bill Murray
@Randinho: well that’s not from the US play. But it’s water break time now
Mike E
@raven: I think Fox Sports 1 will air the championship tomorrow.
Randinho
That’s the second one, isn’t it. Water break, that is.
raven
@Mike E: Yea, or maybe regular Fox.
Mike E
@raven: Univision activates the SAP audio for MLS games, American for us gringos.
Bill Murray
1-1 at the end of regulation
Bill Murray
halftime in extra time, still 1-1
Bill Murray
great save by Guzan after another defensive breakdown
Bill Murray
and to penalties we go
SRW1
Jurgen’s gonna fix this in the pk shootout. It’s the German way.
daverave
Personally I can’t wait for the Bradley era to finally come to an end. I’ve never seen anyone at a critical position at this level with such consistently poor first touches. Klinsmann can’t fix that…
Randinho
Panama deserved the win.
Bill Murray
Panama wins 3-2 on penalties. Fabian Johnson, Bradley and DeMarcus Beasley missed the last 3 kicks for the US. Johnson didn’t get it on goal, the backup keeper, Meijia, saved Bradley’s and Beasley’s kicks
Randinho
@SRW1: USA getting back to ts English roots and losing on penalties.
Bill Murray
@Randinho: yup. the US was pretty bad until around the 70th minute and was mostly just OK after that
daverave
@daverave:
…not to mention that PK attempt or his frequent putting the ball out of play entirely on set pieces.
Cacti
No way to spin a 4th place finish as anything but a disappointment for the USMNT.
SRW1
@Randinho:
Yes. In a German team you are not allowed to miss more than once
At least as far as the lads go.
Bill Murray
final stats
Panama 25 shots, 12 on goal
US 5 shots, 2 on goal
Despite 55% of the possession, Panama dominated the US, except in bad passes and poor touches
LosGatosCA
@Bill Murray:
The shot chart is pathetic. not just the number but where they came from.
