This is totally an open thread, but to get the conversation started, I offer these gems, just a few of the Amazon reviews of Marge’s new book. My personal favorite, hands-down, is the one titled OMG MTG!
After reading the reviews, I went back and clicked “Helpful” for each one. The reviews really were helpful, lifting my mood immensely.
laura
I’m off topic because I could give shit not one for this vile usurper to the queen of the high school girl’s bathroom on the same day Shane McGowan and John Nichols shrugged off this mortal coil.

number one, believing that her audience would read a book, that her audience would read a book by a woman and number two….. lots and lots of number two.

Marge is Barney Rubble’s long-lost sister.
SFAW
@Old School:
They misspelled “effluent.”
Harrison Wesley
I’ll pass on the book – gonna wait for the Netflix mini-series.
SFAW
@Harrison Wesley:
I’m gonna wait for the serialized version in/on MySpace.
WaterGirl
@laura: Your comment reminded me that I had said I would put up a post for Shane McGowan tonight if no one else put one up, so I just put one up.

The long national nightmare of George Santos (if that’s his real name) will be over soon. His expulsion vote is scheduled for tomorrow and suddenly, the House has found bipartisanship again. It’s a miracle.
WaterGirl
@BellyCat: I laughed really hard at that one! I thought “probably will return” at the end was just perfect.

I think we all owe MTG a debt of gratitude for providing SO much entertainment to SO many people who didn’t even have to buy or read her book-thingy!

@brendancalling:
Barney was a loyal husband, great dad, and good friend, he doesn’t deserve to be slimed with Marge Cromangan.

Meh. In important news, Henry Kissinger is STILL DEAD.

MTG’s book has one positive review:

@Scout211: I see that more reviews are pouring in. That’s another good one.

In my wildest delusions, some of which in my youth might have been drug or alcohol fueled, I was never ever ever this high on my own supply. You have to have an epic shit load of self-unawareness to be this unfunny joke of a human being.
WaterGirl
@mrmoshpotato: Who was the fellow who died, who had been screaming “stop raping people!” shortly before he shuffled off? As I recall, he got similar treatment, with people for weeks adding comments “XX is still dead”. How could I have forgotten his name?
Roberto el oso
@WaterGirl: Breitbart?
mrmoshpotato
@WaterGirl: I have no idea. BJ hive mind, wanna help?
Harrison Wesley
What a ripoff. I was told there would be Jewish space lasers. I want my Jewish space lasers!
WaterGirl
@JaySinWA: That’s funny.

I’m waiting for MTG…the opera.
WaterGirl
@Roberto el oso: yes! Thank you.

@Harrison Wesley: Will you settle for MT(G)V?

Thanks to all for the great laughs! I’d contribute a review but I wouldn’t touch that book with a 10 foot pole!

Imagine if Kitty Packard had told Carlotta Vance that she was writing a book. They’d never have made it into the dining room.

That flavor not until 2025, if then. Price subject to change (upward) in the interim

@JaySinWA: The pronouns bit is one thing (still rude and stupid and mean) but names??? Tons and tons of exceedingly cis/het people use a different name than what is on their birth certificate. Whether nicknames like Ted or a middle name or whatever else. I presume he’s trying to go after someone for using a name that isn’t typically associated with the gender they were assigned at birth, but like…that feels so thin. So many names now are pretty gender neutral, and names are just made up anyway. Why is Mary typically a “female” name and Mark is typically “male”? Because people just decided that.
Christ, the right wing are a bunch of wimpy scared little bigot-babies.
dmsilev
@Old School: Apparently their “Cybertruck is now on sale” event needs to come with a big asterisk of “only 12 trucks were actually delivered, bo a set of very carefully selected customers and everyone else eager to spend $80k on this …thing will have to wait until some nebulous time next year”. So, basically a small set of undoubtedly tweaked and adjusted models delivered to a small set of Tesla superfans, meaning that any vaguely reasonable assessment of the things will have to wait until that nebulous “next year”.
dmsilev
@Harrison Wesley:
Hanukah isn’t until *next* week.

@NotMax: I don’t really give a shit, because the product is just ridiculous, but how many kW is a charge for a vehicle that heavy and over-torqued to also get (allegedly) 320 miles of range?
We were just in a rental Pacifical plug-in hybrid for a week for Tgiving. It was a decent vehicle! We only had a 120v plug, so charging was slow, but also I didn’t feel like we were ripping off the VRBO host since we were adding like 15-18 miles of range while parked for multiple hours. Couldn’t have been that many kW.
But the mega-maxa-loookit-me-Im-pathetic-Truck? $$$ per charge, I assume.
RaflW
@dmsilev: Saw some stills of the Cyber‘s 35mph direct impact (ie, not the ofset) crash test. The rear, steerable wheels look like they crumple on their axle by the third published frame.
At 35mph.
It’s gonna be a total p.o.s. But we know that already. Also the hood may double as a guillotine in vehicle-pedestrian crashes, per some critics on Bsky.
Martin
So, IPCC, getting a little shrill noting that we’re actually losing ground toward the Paris targets/date says, reading between the lines, that if we just took out the top 1% of earners globally, we’d be fine – they’re the ones doing all the damage. Like, knock this list down as many pegs as necessary, and nobody else needs to do anything more than just hold station on emissions.
Wondering if this idea takes hold.
NotMax
@RaflW
Unless intending to tow something or carry full loads. Estimated range then reputed to be in the neighborhood of 150 miles.
Martin
@RaflW: 123kWh. Tesla has a pretty efficient drivetrain, I’ll give them that, but then the vehicle will on average probably only carry as much stuff as my bike, and it only needs a 750Wh battery for 45 miles.
Frankensteinbeck
@dmsilev:
I wondered what the disaster would be on the rollout, what was being covered up. If they were only able to release 12, and picked the recipients, it must be awful. This is a truly Muskian display of “pretend the product exists.”
@NotMax:
Amazing how the really powerful one is the one that isn’t available yet. Jam tomorrow, the check is in the mail, and the fish that got away.
Actually, amazing how the crappy base version isn’t available yet. 12 trucks? Really?
Memory Pallas
@Martin: Something along those lines was alluded to in this fictional work: Ministry for the Future It was pretty satisfying to read.

@Harrison Wesley
Would you settle for a space dreidel?

@HumboldtBlue: Cro Magnons don’t deserve to be slimed either. They were fully modern human beings physically, produced art, and had brains slightly larger on average than modern populations do. Little of that can be said of MTG.
Citizen Alan
@Sure Lurkalot: More context is needed. What you said could apply equally well to MTG, Kissinger, and Elmo.

@brendancalling: No way. Surely Barney’s sister would not be/could not be near as odious as this person.
