Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

“They all knew.”

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

All hail the time of the bunny!

Stand up, dammit!

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

People are complicated. Love is not.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

That meeting sounds like a shotgun wedding between a shitshow and a clusterfuck.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

Big props to Scott Van Duzer, proprietor of the Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Ft. Pierce, Florida, who says he’s a Republican but will be voting for President Obama anyways.

Open thread? How about Washington Post’s conservative blogger Jennifer Rubin saying North Carolina is not a swing state according to either campaign and that is why Public Policy Polling is awful and nuts.

That dude is my new favorite person. I love how adorably thrilled he was by meeting Obama!

And this is, what, #23788 on the list of “Can you imagine Mitt Romney doing this”. Because, no. No I can’t.

Scott Van Duzer is not just an owner of a pizza shop, but apparently he is considered kind of a local hero involved with a number of local charities. Some might even say that he’s a community organizer. Here is a link to the Van Duzer Foundation: thevanduzerfoundation.org/

In other Obot porn today, there’s also his Birth Certificate Joke:

POOL REPORT: At 6:51 motorcade arrived at… a strip mall. Grand Oaks shopping village in Orlando, which houses, among other things, Gators Dockside, a sports bar… Big cheer when potus walked in, doing a strange slicing motion with his arms that your pooler is informed is the “gator chop.” Hm. Being a huge beer fan, potus immediately sidled up to the bar, of course, standing under a ginormous stuffed? Plastic? Alligator. He ordered a pint of something, and started chatting up patrons… He goes to a huge table of ten, five kids, and one woman points to a blond boy at the opposite end and says “he was born in Hawaii.” Potus lights up and does some presumably Hawaii sign with his hand, which the boy returned. Then Potus says: “You were born in Hawaii? You have a birth certificate?” The table busted out laughing.

@The Moar You Know: She haz a sad because she can’t get richer by paying people less than $2 a day like they do in Africa. The richest damn woman in the world and she is fucking whining about having to pay decent wages and benefits.

And she worked so hard for HER money. It was really hard work to be born to an $18 BILLION dollar fortune.

There was a previous article about this bitch that also featured the quote at the bottom of this article:

“There is no monopoly on becoming a millionaire. If you’re jealous of those with more money don’t just sit there and complain, do something to make more money yourself. Spend less time drinking, smoking and socializing and more time working.”

I am sure the people in Australia will be happy to know they can become millionaires too if they just work MORE, even if it’s for $2 a day. If they will just save all of that money instead of spending it on stupid things like food and shelter, they will be millionaires after just 1370 years of working. (No days off, ever in that 1370 years either.)

Guess what, Romney has more room to make a Mormon joke than Obama does. Hard to believe for pompius doofuses but true. Not that Mitt is likely to try, or would not turn it into a Mittsaster if he did. But, even Reid or Huntsman could salvage something from a good one, even after they goofed it up.

Here is most informative piece I see.

Michelle Obama’s Speech Gets More Online Views Than The Entire RNC Convention

    forbes.com/sites/jjcolao/2012/09/07/michelle-obamas-speech-gets-more-online-views-than-the-entire-rn…

Poor Mr. President, he might be catching up a little, but unlikely to overtake FLOTUS, who was a viral hit in China (thought I saw a story where it went viral several places, though).

For RNC, looks like Clint is the star. BooWah! Thatta a way to go, GOP.

Thanks for FLOTUS links, folks. I suddenly realized I should do a search, rather than hunt around at random places where I thought I saw it, and the stories are all over the place. But my link to Forbes story on it is in moderation.

Looks like the big star from the two conventions, besides Michelle, is Clint Eastwood yelling at an empty chair. Way to go, GOP.

@Suffern Ace: Rahm sux, and he and his machine are a bunch of liars to boot.

Dunno what’s happening with teachers (though I can guess) but I do know he got a big story placed in the Chicago rags claiming that bus drivers for CTA got paid coffee breaks every morning. He left out the little detail that the ten minutes is allotted for performing mandatory pre-trip vehicle inspections (which any commercial driver must do) and mandatory lift equipment inspection (ADA mandate). Btw, when they added the ADA requirements they didn’t add any time for the driver to perform them. Ehhh, hope that driver doesn’t miss a cracked or loose lug nut in the morning.

Obama is ahead of Romney with Ohio seniors:

Obama’s leading in Ohio because he’s not as weak there with some large voter blocs as he is in other states. He trails only 48-46 with men and 50-46 with whites, and actually leads 49-47 with seniors. His performance with those groups is far better than it is nationally- Romney would need much wider leads with them if he was going to take Ohio.

They’re just so SURE he’s been a total disaster, was born in Kenya, has sent successful capitalists to his own gulags, pulled the plug on granny, has increased government spending eleventy billion percent, takes his orders from Bill Ayers and Soros, and on and on and on.

Even those braindead knuckledragging morans were dimly aware of how unpopular their Dear Leader was in 2008 – even if they had no idea why (and later settled on “NOT A REAL CONSERVATIVE” as always), so losing that election didn’t come as nearly the shock that losing this one will (knock on wood). Of course, Romney being the nominee will allow them, yet again, to console themselves that a REAL CONSERVATIVE would have won. Larf.
