Sir Accuse, Orangeman is nothing but a lazy moocher stealing my hard-earned money.
Elizabelle
Who knew his liver would make it.
Somebody lost a bet today.
ETA: waving at Zandar. Great to see you back! How’s Kentucky(?)
Zandar
@Elizabelle: Snow on the ground this morning, 3-5 inches or so. Cruddy commute.
Perhaps someone can place Orange Julius outside to melt the snow.
Elizabelle
@Zandar:
Yeah, I thought you might have snow. Wet here, but too warm for the white stuff.
currants
:-) thanks for the morning grin!
Comrade Dread
If there were justice, all congressmen would have all of their assets frozen upon their election and they’d be forced to live off of SS/Medicare (if they’re post-retirement age) or TAMF/SNAP (if they’re pre-retirement)

I would so love to believe that NancySMASH!! wrote that tweet herself. Good for whatever intern came up with it.
In sadder news, former Georgia governor Carl Sanders has died age 89. He was elected within days of my moving to Georgia the first time (1962). I paid little attention to politics and governance back then, and what attention I did pay was very wrong-headed, but in retrospect I have come to realize that Sanders was one of the good guys considering the social climate of the time. May he RIP.

I welcome Nancy Pelosi, our House Minority And Trolling leader.

Agent Orange got Nancy Smashed!
NotMax
Understand the Orange reference, but am at a loss as to what relevance the Julius part of the title has.
Elizabelle
The African doctor, Martin Salia, being treated in Nebraska has died.
WaPost reports he got a false negative test, initially, for Ebola while in Africa. The delay cost him.
NBC site:
RIP.
Elizabelle
@SiubhanDuinne:
RIP Governor Sanders. Never heard of him, will read up. (How many times do you think people addressed him as “Colonel”, because it rolls off the tongue …)
And the tweet sounds like it could have come from former Speaker Pelosi. You know she thought it!
OzarkHillbilly
Doesn’t one have to actually earn SS and Medicare?
GregB
@raven:
Amazingly he developed the weak back about a week back from enlisting.
I believe if Boehner had been a Democrat he’d have been called a draft-dodger day in and day out for the last 30 years.
Zandar
@NotMax: Orange Julius is a name of a smoothie chain that’s been around malls for a couple decades. I refer to Boehner as that because he’s Orange-American, and believes he’s Julius Caesar. Much like Julius Caesar, he gets stabbed in the back a lot by his fellow lawmakers.
Also, I like smoothies.
chopper
@OzarkHillbilly:
he’s white (tho the guy who owns the tanning salon might disagree*) so every benefit he gets is inherently ‘earned’.
*”he’s putting my kid through college!”

@SiubhanDuinne:
While discussing Jimmy Carter here, I mentioned Carl Sanders briefly.

@raven:
Joe Civilian here.
Just wanna mention I cannot picture Boner on a non-Pacific Princess ship for more than 48 hours.
raven
@NotMax: You never had one?
raven
@Tone In DC: He would have been a good airforce officer.

Hi Zandar!
OzarkHillbilly
@chopper: Doh! But of course. Silly me!
Patricia Kayden
@raven: How convenient for him.

@GregB: Look what they did to Kerry and he served!
Frankensteinbeck
@GregB:
I don’t blame anyone for dodging the draft. When you dodge the draft and then enthusiastically support war, you’re a hypocrite and a murderer.
NotMax
@raven
Nope, never.
Only orange drink chain whose product ever quaffed (with regrets afterwards) was from the long defunct Nedick’s.
Fast food joints and most chain eateries have always been places I avoid if possible. Was bought a small bag of White Castle burgers by the parents in order to warm up while waiting in the bitter, blustery, snowy cold for JFK’s motorcade to pass by very soon after his election. Must have been 20 or 25 years later before I ate another one. Mostly if go into someplace like Jack in the Box or Burger King all I order is black coffee or iced tea. (McDonald’s I have refused to set foot in since 1971 when they served me a sewage burger* – meat so spoiled that I gagged on the first bite – and flatly refused to exchange it or refund the price.)
*Just in case anyone is curious, this was at the one in Falls Church, VA.
@Zandar
Except that J.C. was stabbed in the front. And also the side. Caesar got and wielded power by dint of an implied but real threat by his loyal army forces. Boehner couldn’t command a one-man latrine digging detail.
IMHO.
Zandar
@NotMax: Hence the “thinks” he’s Caesar part.
And yeah, to be fair, ted Cruz does stab him in the front.
NotMax
@Zandar
To be equitable, from what I’ve read, Cruz does that to everyone.

Good to see that the Orangeman has been taken care of. Next time he talks about American exceptionalism he might want to consider
tt cews
If the Speaker is 65 today, then he was born in 1949. Full social security retirement for those born in 1949 is 66, not 65.
OzarkHillbilly
@D58826: WE’RE #1!!! WE’RE #1!!! WE’RE #1!!!
NotMax
@tt cews
Good catch. Full retirement benefits age is 66 for those born between 1943 and 1954.
Violet
Thanks for posting this. Gave me a much needed chuckle.
catclub
@NotMax: Lucky me. Full 67.
CONGRATULATIONS!
And then the screwing really starts. Old America wants to make sure my generation works until about three weeks before we die and they’ve set up all the “social safety net” programs to insure that will be the case.
Thanks guys! I never forget when I’m at the ballot box!

Hey Zandar!!

This should be titled “Nancy Smash! hits the Great Orange Boner below the belt”

Love Nancy Smash! And happy to see you back Zander! Need moar Zander.

@Frankensteinbeck: Like the Motor City Madman, Ted Nugent
dance around in your bones
@Frankensteinbeck:
Practically every guy I knew back in the day did everything they could to get out of the draft. It was clear from about 1967 I (was only 14 at that time, but it was apparent to me, but for those paying attention it was probably apparent quite earlier..) that the Nam was just a fuck up and a loser’s game.
Though I’m glad that the guys I knew who went and came back in one piece or with a few pieces missing, I have much respect for. What a fucked up war.
