Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

You would normally have to try pretty hard to self-incriminate this badly.

When we show up, we win.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

This really is a full service blog.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

Fight them, without becoming them!

Her usual pose:2014-11-29 20.28.36

Slightly more energy here. Soonerwife was holding a piece of cheese.2014-11-29 20.27.26

We went to the groomer yesterday, and they did their usual wonderful job. While Melody was getting her hair and nails done, I got the lights up on the outside of the house and we got the tree and some other decorations up in the living room.  The In-laws are here and were a huge help. My dad and stepmom are coming over later and we’ll watch the Chargers/Ravens game at noon and the Broncos/Chiefs game this evening. It got to 72 here yesterday, and will be in the upper 60’s today, but it’s dropping to 27 tonight, and will be cold all week.

It’s going to make it to 50 here today too, but tomorrow’s high will be in the 20s. I’m trying to motivate myself to be productive and get off my Kindle.
So far with very little success, though at least I am out of the pjs and dressed.

@satby: in honor of the last thread I also refilled all the bird feeders and suet holders too. Maybe that’s productive enough.

Miss Melody is so damn cute! Fresh from the beauty salon too. Sounds like a lovely day on deck at the Sooner casa.

Mid 70’s in Phx today. Mom and I were wondering yesterday if we’ll need any real warm clothes this year.

Some good NFL match ups today- we’re still buzzing over college football here in AZ, though.

Just heard from a bit of the NW reporting in at 19°F. Will somebody fix that wobbly jet stream?! Middle bit just slammed into the 50°s which is confusing and can only lead to coats etc. being abandoned at inappropriate times.

Much needed rain showers here in NorCal, though it makes it damned inconvenient as I pack, deciding what to take and what to leave behind as I move out of our house of ten years and go to live in a rented room. But hey! At least I found a room…

    What a cutie! I’m sure she’s everyone’s favorite :)

Very much enjoying the last day of our T-bird Break. Yesterday the very competent fellow we hired, with our sporadic help (spirit is willing but the flesh is weak) hauled parts up three flights of stairs and assembled the cheap-a$$ platform bed/bookcase headboard combo we finally acquired.

No more grumpy old boxspring! No more losing the remotes on the bed and having the cats change channels! No more rickety bedside tables!

Even though we literally did no heavy lifting, we are still worn out enough to spend the day in our new bed. Which seems totally appropriate :)

Fifties here in western PA, almost 60. Everyone I know is at the Steeler game today. Planning day two of Thanksgiving leftovers today. Yesterday was leftover ham (oldest sister must have ham every holiday) made into a ham and lentil soup. Today, just regular turkey, butternut squash and apple with candied pecans casserole, stuffing and Brussels sprouts.

@satby: I’m not sure if you caught my response on the earlier thread, but I wish to thank both you and I’mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet again for helping my friend Jami out with the cost of her cat’s recent operation. You both rock.

Dora the cat continues to improve each day. She had a red mark on her belly, but it turned out to be only a bruise. Jami’s posting updates and pictures of Dora to her GoFundMe page, so you can see how Dora’s doing here:

I’ve been trying to talk G into getting a storage bed for years — it can have storage in drawers or by lifting the mattress, I’m not picky. Prices range from Ikea to West Elm, so hopefully we’ll find something we can agree on.

No bookcase headboards in earthquake country, though. Bad idea.

I grew up with a mid sized poodle. My parents wouldn’t pay for a groomer so we used an electric razor my dad bought for it. No bows. She hardly ever looked the same twice. Pros we were not.

    Well not the actual movies.
That would be too much to ask of science. Yes the literary content should be able to be used for plant food, manure is just crap after all. But in it’s current form it can’t even be used for that. So I’d go with, no.

It’s 9am and 20 degrees just outside Seattle. Helping the youngest move into an apartment after five years of living on the road with a traveling Disney show. The snow from yesterday is almost gone and our front yard looks like an ocean with whitecaps. The sidewalks are treacherous.

@Mnemosyne: No bookcase headboards in earthquake country, though. Bad idea.

Dang, I agree! I located my reading/salt lamp in a niche in the new headboard, after Mr WereBear pointed out that putting it on top might mean I’d wear it someday. We are basically ceding the top shelf to the kitties :)

We chose our current item because the reviews praised the storage drawers; top notch hardware in a sturdy, (though very thinly veneered) wrapping. I saw some good-looking options at IKEA; but that’s out for us, they do not ship such things and we are at least 250 miles away. With a Ford Focus :)

I think apartment dwellers (much less those with the practically-submarine conditions we live with) should always consider furniture-with-storage.

    @PsiFighter37:

Last full year in my 20s…gotta make it a memorable one.

I’ve come to the conclusion that nobody under the age of 80 is actually old. Until you hit 80, there’s basically always someone 10-20 years older than you, at least, to tell you how you are not old and “wait till you get to be my age”.

    ***************************

Drove back from NC yesterday under the “hopes” of getting up early and getting stuff done. I got a bit of insomnia last night, so I just got up and need to motivate myself to get out the door and get groceries and return DVD’s from the library that are overdue.

I then have the ambitious plan of cooking for the week.

I have overcome the first mental hurdle: Taken a shower and put on a shirt and knickers. Working my way to the second hurdle: Pants, then socks, then shoes and out the door I go.

    Hey, I can do that!

Back when I was driving the mail route, I came out one day to find the whole route festooned with balloons and signs on the theme of “Lordie Lordie, Gordy is forty!” Gordy’s own box was a veritable festival site. I left him a note: “Don’t worry, Gordy, you’re just a kid yet!”

But definitely, any of you that can still walk up and down stairs without advance planning are not old.

Did 5 miles in 40:19 on the dreadmill. Patched a hole in a wall, did some laundry. Now I’m showered and dressed.

I’ll take a trip to Home Despot later to get a towel hook/rack to cover the patched hole, then the lady and I are going to go to/see/watch a movie while the spawn is at work.

    @Older:
I’m no old old yet but walking up and down stairs much at all is a royal pain. Used to take them 2 at a time, now 1/2 at a time would be better. And this being told that it only gets worse? Yeah I don’t know if I’m up for that. Of course the alternative does have it’s drawbacks.
