Valley Girl was on the other night and I had forgotten what a guilty pleasure that movie is for me. No idea why, it’s totally tripendicular, ya know?

If I can put on my screenwriting hat for a minute, “Valley Girl” is a very well-structured classical romantic comedy. It adds on the 1980s trappings, but otherwise it would fit right into the golden age of the 1940s, structure-wise. That’s probably why it’s still satisfying to watch 30 years later.
And, of course, the soundtrack is still awesome.

The grandcat is visiting, which means a full night’s sleep is not allowed, as the dog must be taunted into waking.
So I’m up watching Grosse Point Blank – another fun movie with a banging soundtrack.

You might have seen VG on THiS TV, an antenna station that likes to end its movies 6-7 minutes short of the hour to stick more important asbestos lawsuit commercials in.

@Mnemosyne: i’ve read a few interviews with the director and apparently the producers just wanted/expected an exploitation film and were quite shocked and happy when they realized they had an actual movie.

@Mnemosyne: and it featured the young and comely Nicolas Cage!

And also in a bit part Michelle Meyrink who was in the same graduating class as me!
She had a much bigger part in Real Genius another 1980’s gem.

Great movie with a stellar soundtrack.
