On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Juicers who are are on the road, traveling, or just want to share a little bit of their world via stories and pictures. So many of us rise each morning, eager for something beautiful, inspiring, amazing, subtle, of note, and our community delivers – a view into their world, whether they’re far away or close to home – pictures with a story, with context, with meaning, sometimes just beauty. By concentrating travel updates and tips here, it’s easier for all of us to keep up or find them later.
So please, speak up and share some of your adventures and travel news here, and submit your pictures using our speedy, secure form. You can submit up to 7 pictures at a time, with an overall description and one for each picture.
You can, of course, send an email with pictures if the form gives you trouble, or if you are trying to submit something special, like a zipped archive or a movie. If your pictures are already hosted online, then please email the links with your descriptions.
For each picture, it’s best to provide your commenter screenname, description, where it was taken, and date. It’s tough to keep everyone’s email address and screenname straight, so don’t assume that I remember it “from last time”. More and more, the first photo before the fold will be from a commenter, so making it easy to locate the screenname when I’ve found a compelling photo is crucial.
Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures!
Today, a picture from valued commenter HeleninEire.
Just one pic from Dublin. I have walked past this building 100 times; both before and after I moved here. It is 3 blocks from my house, and I never noticed that incredible mural. Looks like it’s primarily made of copper.
My Dublin friends assure me that there are many similar hidden art gems in the city.
I’m going on a hidden art hunt! I’ll share what I find.
Awesome – thanks so much!
Next up, some stuff from La Passionara, one of my favorite nyms on the site. My dearest cat was often called “La” Mimi, or just “La”. And for at least the past decade, I often referred to my mother as “La Mama”, which is really French (la) and Spanish (Mama). In both cases, this translated internally into “the most wonderful and beloved”. So it’s nice to have a “La” commenter.
They were taken on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at one of Paris’s many street markets.
I tried sending some photos on the form, but was unsuccessful. I do not have a great camera, and I do not consider myself a good photographer. But I love the Paris markets, and if you choose to post these, I hope others will enjoy them also.
Those mushrooms make me hungry, so very hungry. My original mushroom collecting experience was in France as a kid and I’ve not left one on my plate ever since.
Thank you so much , do send us more when you can.
Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.
One again, to submit pictures: Use the Form or Send an Email

Everyone enbiggen my picture. Can you spot the bicycle?
Quinerly
Love the pictures this AM. Poco and I had a wonderful time at White Sands yesterday. We were the second ones in the gate when the monument reopened after the shut down. Particularly beautiful because no one had walked on anything and there had been a big windstorm over the weekend with 20 plus mph winds. Loving Las Cruces. Have a great day, everyone!

Copper would oxidize and become greenish (think Statue of Liberty). Might that be the artist’s name on the upper right of the wall?
Bicycle in the squirrel’s tail.

@Quinerly
Just so long as the sands were still white after Poco visited.
;)

@NotMax: The snow plows were really neat. We were behind one for a spell. Roads were covered from the wind storm. We did break the leash rule, behind an isolated dune….Poco had to really stretch his legs after 1600 miles. Don’t you dare tell anyone.?
HeleninEire
@NotMax: Yup. I didn’t even see it until after I took the picture and sent it along to Balloon Juice. Dunno about the artist’s name. There’s LOTS of graffiti here (some of it extraordinary), so I’m not sure is that’s related. Possibly.

Difficult to tell, but also appear to be pieces from a cast iron wood-burning stove in the center area.
The oversize blades of grass are impressive. Look roughly the dimensions of some of what I mowed yesterday. :)

Love all the pictures today. Great mural and I just want to wander through the market and smell all the flowers and spices. Thanks for sharing!
p.a.
Really nice shots today. Those figs have me drooling.

Nice picture HeleninEire. Can you give a hint about where it is? I will look for it next time I’m in Dublin.

@HeleninEire:
Love the “Look Right” also.
Here, there are many impressive murals (like the rear end of a car sticking out of a building wall), but there have also been more than a few crashes due to the drivers they distract. I trust Dublin drivers are smarter than that.

The pictures are amazing. We have farmers markets but the displays are nothing like that.
HeleninEire
@evap: Sure. It is on the corner of Tara Street and George’s Quay.
HeleninEire
@debbie: The “Look Right” and “Look Left” warnings have saved my life more than once. Only now, after 15 months here am I beginning to look the correct way when crossing. And finally the steering wheels don’t look like they are on the wrong side of the car!
Lapassionara
@JPL: The markets in France are a feast for the eyes. Probably other countries too, but I have not seen them.
Lapassionara
@Quinerly: Are we going to get to see photos?

@Lapassionara: Sent a few in to Alain this AM. Incredible experience….being there basically all alone. Poco was new to travel in 2015 when we were last there. Quite a few people and warmer then. I don’t recall him being so excited and into it. There were snow angels…of the doggie kind. Little yelps. He snored so loudly last that he woke me up….also doggie dreams of running…His feet were in motion while snoring.?

I cannot pass a market. We are planning a trip to Rome and looking forward to seeing the market there.
Helen that wall art is spectacular.

Those are all amazing.

With rodents that size trying to make a living farming would be hard work!!
