Second prize was breakfast with Trump. First prize was breakfast without him.

I got a good laugh at the cupidity of this whole contest thing. My favorite part:

The contest was also promoted extensively over email. A September 20 email to Trump’s list, which reportedly includes at least 20 million people, was sent with the subject line “Breakfast for two.” The email contains a copy of a message Trump allegedly sent to his campaign:

“Can you send me an updated list of Patriots who have entered to have breakfast with me in New York City first thing tomorrow morning? Are my top supporters on the list? I really want to get their opinion on my 2020 Campaign Strategy over breakfast.”

Yeah, that sounds exactly like something trump would write, if he knew how to send emails.

@Mary G: Not sure what Greenwald expected to happen when he repeatedly called the fascist a coward (covarde) while sitting less than a foot from him. I also don’t see the homophobic part. Nunes may indeed be homophobic, but he attacked Greenwald for being an asshole, not for being gay.

@JPL: He wrote it anonymously because he doesn’t want this story of his brave efforts on behalf of all Americans to short circuit the worst impulses of trump, keeping trump from destroying the world, to be about him the brave truth teller. Totally not about him, the lone picket standing between us and the forces of Armageddon.

This “contest” was just one more way to bamboozle the right-wing rubes out of more of their money. It’s why Trump switched political parties – it’s easier to hornswaggle the loonies on the right than the ones on the left!

“I have decided to publish this anonymously because this debate is not about me,” the official writes. “It is about us. It is about how we want the presidency to reflect our country, and that is where the discussion should center. Some will call this ‘cowardice’. My feelings are not hurt by the accusation. Nor am I unprepared to attach my name to criticism of President Trump. I may do so, in due course.”

For some light entertainment, I thought to read the comments at wapo in relation to Bloomberg running for president. I just read this one

“The billionaire class is scared and they should be scared,” Sanders wrote
Similar to Hillary’s “deplorable” comment, you don’t get elected by insulting large swaths of Americans.

How many large swaths of Americans are billionaires?

@TS (the original): I think the number 700 appeared recently. Sounds like the right order of magnitude.

And as to Chyron’s comment, 700 is a lot smaller than, say, the number of people with Parkinson’s, but that didn’t stop Trump from mocking a reporter with it.

typical con man activity. they see a thing that someone else is doing and translate it thru the lens of ‘how do i profit off this?’ the Dump family foundation is a great example. they only see the tax benefit. they completely miss the real point of having a foundation. it’s why so many GOP’ers believe the Clinton Foundation is a scam. they can’t imagine having all those donations within their grasp and not grabbing some of it for themselves.

My theory is that the meals actually happened, but when these regular people were in the presence of the great orange God Sun King President for so many minutes, his pure radiance caused them to enter a higher level of existence. That’s why we can’t find them or find pictures of them with Trump.
