Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

They spent the last eight months firing professionals and replacing them with ideologues.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

The National Guard is not Batman.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Oppose, oppose, oppose. do not congratulate. this is not business as usual.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

It’s been a hell of a day. In keeping with the rhyming couplet of cattery theme this evening, Odoroki & Hime would like to point out that, really, the downticket races are the biggest thing, so please focus on those. Have a good night. I’m gonna go knock myself out since I have to be at work before 8 am. Open thread for you night jackals.

@NotMax: It only showed up properly after I went into WordPress and hit Publish. It was in some kind of limbo-land.

The youtube video didn’t work as it should have, either, all better now.  Third time’s the charm.

“Last Chance on the Stairway” is one of my favorite rarely heard Duran Duran songs. :D

Cats know way more about us than they let on.

At this distance, Simon The Good Le Bon doesn’t look or sound like he’s aged a day since the 1980s. I resent that: I’m about his age, and I have aged many many days since then.

I just saw this YouTube video of a 10-year-old girl acing Jeff Porcaro’s legendarily difficult drum part from Rosanna. (I understand it is often set as an exam piece by music colleges.)
