First they compare Obama to Nazis/Hitler and now they’re comparing right-wing politicians to MLK?!??!
That’s just deranged. If MLK were alive today they’d take him as seriously as they take Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Why stop with MLK? They criticized Jesus too, didn’t they?
I rest my case.

They just can’t help themselves, can they?

Yeah, but consider:
a) If you say Tom Coburn can’t be compared to Martin Luther King, you’re clearly just focusing on the colour of their skins, and so prove yourself an out-and-out racist.
b) By comparing Coburn to King, the GOP are proving to the satisfaction of all reasonable people that they can’t possibly be racist themselves. After all, would a racist compare one of their own to one of ‘them’?
You might think that there’s some kind of racially changed argument going on right now in which the GOP would like to be able to point to quotes proving how colour-blind and post-racial they are. But that’s just me being cynical.

“If MLK were alive today they’d take him as seriously as they take Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.”
Which is exactly what they did while he was, um, alive. Except he wasn’t a joke- he was a deadly serious threat to the American way of life.
It just floors me how they are now all on the King-and-Lewis bandwagon (nice try, McCain), when the wingers all hated them back in the day.

No doubt it was a leftist who did it, but somebody just tried to register me, with my personal email address, at that Stormfront Neo-Nazi website.
Nice try. Luckily those people have you confirm your email address, which came to me.
Try, try again morons.
BTW, no doubt if they had done this successfully, MSNBC would have run breaking news throughout the day that I’m a member there — just like using the fake Limbaugh quotes to ruin his chances of buying the Rams.
Teh Awesome. I’m surprised he’s not already a member though.
They still hate King and Lewis now. When they think they’re safely among their own and unrecorded, they refer to MLK day as “Ni**er Day”, and still bitch that it’s a federal holiday. (“He didn’t set me free”.) Sometimes if they’re really frisky, they’ll speculate about the “Obama Day” we’ll have in the future, leaving unspoken the martyrdom that implies.
These same people will insist in other company that they’re not racist, and they’re just “concerned” about Obama’s ties and policy positions.
If I thought them capable of irony, I’d say their comparing themselves to MLK is a deliberate smear of MLK.

Even granting Erick’s delusion that MSNBC would care enough about him to report it, how’d MSNBC know what email lists he’s subscribed to? He thinks MSNBC reads his email or something?

The “fake Rush quotes” is also funny. It’s like when the Starbursts crew insist she’s a genius and we’re all responding to Tina Fey’s prformances, and Sarah herself always spoke perfect wisdom.

Dr. King was murdered for his efforts to bring equality to Jim Crow America. He was assassinated!

That’s a big difference right there.

If MLK were alive today, he’d be a Republican who opposes affirmative action and anything else that might help poor people as “reverse racism”.
