No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Congrats, Phil

Phil Mickelson just birdied the 18th to win the Masters, concluding what may be the best Masters since 1986, and maybe one of the best ever. That back nine was non-stop insanity- two hole in ones on the 16th within ten minutes of each other (there had only been 7 in the entire history of the tournament before today), numerous eagles, and just unbelievable play from the entire field.

I am so glad Mickelson finally won the big one, and it was like he knew he was going to win as he walked up to his second shot on the fairway.

What a performance, and since he is my favorite golfer, I am thrilled. Congrats.

Major golf tournaments have pretty much become the best spectator sport in the world. One really positive trait of golf is that virtually every single player is likable and classy. You don’t have to go around spending half your time pulling against some loud-mouthed douchebag with a 50 million dollar chip on his shoulder.

I basically loathe watching golf but my father was watching the Master’s today and it was about as on the edge of your seat as I think golf can get. It certainly isn’t going to replace hockey in my heart but it was a great way to spend the afternoon with the parents.

I was jumping up and down on my couch and cheering when that putt went down. I was so happy for Phil. Best Masters I’ve ever watched.

Ernie played a hell of a final round. and as Nick alluded to, I found myself not rooting against Els, but hoping Phil could step up.

John, better than 86 I’d say. Nicholas’s win was memorable, but the play this afternoon was truly magnificant – best golf I’ve ever seen.

Hockey fan here too (Red Wings, being a Michigander) but the Masters had my wife and I mesmerized… we ate Easter dinner transfixed on the TV set. I’ve never seen better golf.

It was the best round of golf I ever saw. It ended perfectly, with a walk-off birdie winning the whole shebang. Els didn’t lose, Phil won. Those putts on 12 and 17 were no flukes. No longer can we say “Phil chokes on Sunday” when it comes to majors.

A few thoughts….. * John Cole, on the Masters Tournament… That back nine was non-stop insanity…Dude. It was golf. However “exciting” a game of golf might be – and I use the word “exciting” very loosely – it most certainly…
