    @Immanentize: Trivia: In the Exodus story, the Hebrew has “frogs” except in one verse (8:2 in Jewish texts, 8:6 in Christian). That one reads “And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frog came up and covered the land of Egypt.”

    There is a certain amount of rabbinical commentary on this….

    Thanks for thinking of us, Cole. So glad we will have frog pix all winter.

    We have a tiny (8’x12′) frog pond right outside our front door. There are several frogs who hang out around the little pond, and they all go “Ribbit! splash!!” when we pass the pond coming or going.

    And there were a hunert-thousant tadpoles all spring and summer — was glorious to have them flashing around. I need to go into the pond to get the leaves out… so much to do, so little time!

    I bet there is!  Take three rabbis, and you can get at least four opinions.

    So I pulled out my Bible, and I confess I’d forgotten the part where, after Moses stretches out his hand and brings the plague of frogs on Egypt, Pharoah’s magicians do the same, conjuring up more frogs, rather than trying to dispel them.  If they were on Pharoah’s side, they sure were doing a bad job of it.

    Why all the Dodger hate on this thread?  I would totally be up there if I could to cheer on the Dodgers, although – by force of habit –  all the Dodgers fans will leave after the 7th inning regardless of the score to avoid traffic.
