I believe I promised you puppy pictures. Here she is, sixteen weeks and still not growing into those ears.

She’s really not amused…

Again, we were promised treats…where are they?

So the weather is going to take a turn this week to sub-zero, which means one thing. The ducks will be living in the bathroom for two days (hopefully not more).  I may entertain you with video.

    @Leto: there must be no wind wherever that guy is making his snow designs. Here in NYC it is still freezing but it looks like everything will be back to normal by tomorrow morning.

    My fullgrown pitbull is slightly jealous of the danes.

    Pitbulls in snow don’t work, much as pitbulls in water dont’t work. Big dog, big head, short neck , massive body, stubbly legs on tiny feet.

    I watched my German Shepherd frolic in the snow for years. Also my labrador retriever.

    Pitbull just isn’t built for it. Minimal fur, short legs, tiny feet. Being a pitbull she is game to try anything, but nature just didn’t provide her with winter equipment.

    ETA working on a cut-down wool flannel hunting shirt for a winter coat for her.

    That will keep her warmer, but won’t giver her the snowshoes/flippers that God gave labrador retrievers.

    @mrmoshpotato: I don’t know if TaMara has a partner, but I hope they’re amenable to ducks living in the bathroom. I know someone else who does this with her ducks, but she’s single.

    @opiejeanne: Gotta put them somewhere. Do people actually take baths anymore? Showers, just move them out of the tub, or rain on them while you shower? Never had ducks, don’t know.

    Dad’s nursing home has ducks. Am I right that kale is a healthier duck treat than bread?

    Compared to Scout, Trixie does the doleful dog saddened by her owner’s failings so much better.

    @sab: We had a neighbor when I was in HS, a very old lady who had tortoises. She used to bring them into her bathroom to give them a good scrub in the tub. It turned out she wasn’t as old as we all thought, because 15 years later she babysat my sister’s kids.

    Move them to another room entirely. Aside from the horrifying image of being naked in a tub with ducks*, there’s the horrifying image of slipping and being found by the paramedics naked in a tub with ducks.

    * I believe the classic phrase is “nibbled to death by ducks”, but I don’t want them to start there.

    @opiejeanne: Interesting. It’s said that people take on the characteristics of their pets. It never occurred to me to exploit that by adopting animals that live 150 years.

    I looked up from my laptop and saw drops and spatters of blood everywhere. My pup had cut her mouth on something-which turned out to be a piece of plastic- and was walking around creating havoc. She seems absolutely fine and has stopped bleeding but of course went right back to finding things to chew on.

    Oh, gods, Tamara! She is cute and looks all sweet and innocent! Remember that when she finally does grow in to those ears and can’t help displacing everything around her.

    @sab:  Yes, lettuce, kale, blueberries, even wild bird seed is miles better than bread or popcorn.

    I’m not sure how I feel about waking up to the BJ crowd speculating on my showering with ducks, LOL. But they do live in a very large “crate” when in the bathroom and get baths, like when they were babies. My dream would be to have a laundry room with a stall for bathing dogs or quarantining ducks.

    I learned, from being married to someone who – (how can this be) thought somehow my houseful of pets would lessen once we were married – that all my subsequent partners and friends love animals as much as I do. So no issues there.
