As you may have heard it is snowing in the Mid-Atlantic. I settled in and watched Dr. Zhivago and when it ended I checked the outside world:
My crude measurements tell me that 11 to 12 inches have fallen already in about eight hours:
And I’m told to expect another 12 to 16 hours of snowfall. This should be a memorable Saturday in old Mobtown.

Sigh, I miss the cold sometimes. It got down to 64 degrees last night, and my windows don’t close all the way, so I had to wear long sleeves and use a comforter.

In western NJ, A few inches of snow. The wind is blowing and the flakes are fine. The town public works has been sanding/salting for the past hour or so.
It’s the wind with this one.
My friend has trees to worry about. The power company trimmed the branches around the street lamps and now the trees are uneven.

It’s normal here. Forty degrees and rainy. There’s talk of snow, but there’s no chance of anything like last weekend, when my parish called off services.

However, that scene when they go back to the lovely house where all the snow’s blown in breaks my heart.
I always think about my favorite actor, George Sanders, and how he barely escaped the Revolution. If you can get a copy of his memoir, Memoirs of a Professional Cad, do so.
He was a fantastic writer, up there with SJ Perelman, and his memories of pre-Revolution Russia are amazing. He has an anecdote about an uncle whose manservant would spread jam on the ceiling to attract flies, so said uncle could shoot ’em.
It’s kind of instructive. I can see, say, Hot Tub Tom Delay doing something along those lines, while people lose their houses.
The current GOP leadership is not so ostentatious, but they are as decadent. They don’t care that people are hurting and unemployed.
Would that we could make people understand that the GOP is acting like Tsar of all the Russias!

Cats woke me up way too early but it gave me the opportunity to check out the snow situation outside in the balcony. It’s still snowing. Hard, and it’s blustery. I heard we will get a good 8 inches more so I am waiting til the end to go out and measure. Burrr. Still thawing from being outside.

@Ripley: My mom lives down there and said the same thing, that there was real snow on the mountains — I remember visiting around Christmas a few years ago and there was a light dusting, but I’ve never seen the Organs with actual snow.
EDIT: As is typical of Chicago this winter, we got a light dusting of outlying weather while all the other states apparently get the snow that we used to. Can’t say that I really miss it.

After the nightmare of travel thursday night/friday, i finally got to the hotel last night and slept from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Best sleep I’ve had in years. And my suitcase finally showed up.

It’s very sad. There are no kids left in this house, so I have to do all the playing in the snow myself. While my wife looks out from the cozy house and wonders about my sanity.
Edit: Her advice to you is: The hell with the shoveling. Go sledding.

Also in Baltimore. Around three feet. Just stopped snowing. There’s a sort of cavern under my patio table, which you can see into through the tiny hole between the bottom of the snow and the top of the table. The cats meow to go out; I open the back door; they take one look at it and run away in terror, shaking their little paws as though they were covered in snow. And all this is only possible because I shoveled three feet of snow away from the back door. The front door is still impassable.
