John Kerry, in what I predict will come to be known as his “Black Knight” interview (“I don’t know what you’re talking about in terms of the Bush bounce..”), states the following:
TIME: What did you think of the speech of your Democratic colleague Zell Miller at the Republican Convention?
KERRY: Everybody has the right to give a speech. I didn’t see it, and I haven’t read it. I didn’t see one minute of the convention.
I call bullshit. Why do politicians feel the need to make stupid statements like this? For the record, I think Bush does read the newspapers.
BTW- Kerry really meant to say “Everybody but my opposition has the right to give a speech.” Because, as we have seen, any time we question Kerry on anything he claims we have no right to question his patriotism.
Justin O.
Well Bush did say himself he didn’t read the newspaper.
Justin O.
My bad, right now, as he’s president….. I said ‘didn’t’. I meant doesn’t.

OT but why do you have an ad for Dolphins tickets on your site, being a Steelers fan and all? I’m not complaining since I am a Dolphins fan and it is nice to see them when I come here, but I just wondered.
BumperStickerist
If you keep reading you’ll find that Kerry doesn’t talk about politics either.
:spit take
Kerry owes me a new keyboard

I think it is entirely possible that Kerry didn’t watch the RNC. He has a bunch of people to view and analyze this sort of think and report back to him. While it might be naive, I also believe the President when he says he hasn’t read certain newspaper accounts that are supposedly relaying a factual story involving him or his policies. Who needs the grief of reading the trash that the NYT, WaPo and others, pass off as the news??
Steverino
So Kerry didn’t watch one minute of the convention, but he was so enraged by his not watching it that he had to give a speech at midnight, right after the convention to protest all the stuff he didn’t see?
Mr. Kerry, when you’re in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
Justin O.
I doubt he needed to watch it himself, he probably had someone cover that lame convention for him. I mean the democratic convention wasn’t that much better, you know the Republicans newest enemy is Michael Moore, they forgot about Osama, so probably pretty good he didn’t watch it.
The RNC doesn’t compare to the newspaper, at least you get an idea of what’s going on in that. At the RNC it was a joke.

Justin O:
I think bin Laden is more truthful than Michael Moore, which of course tells you what I think of Michael Moore.
Uncle Mikey
Why does Kerry in particular feel the need to say such miserably dumb things all the time? I mean, when he’s not crawling around on his stomach with a shotgun.

Hmm, John Kerry claimed that he’d never even heard of Botox until a reporter asked if he’d had Botox injections.
Who knew when Kerry said that Clinton was uncommonly good liar he meant it as a compliment and not a slam.
jeff
Kevin,
Believe me, i love a good slam at Kerry as much as anyone, but just in the interest of fairness, and so someone on the same team can tell you rather than one of the trolls, it was then Sen Bob Kerrey from Nebraska that called Clinton an unusually good liar, not John Kerry.
dylan
OOPS! Kevin/Jeff Good cop/Bad cop style really works. Poor Jeff, so conflicted by Kerryhate and the truth about Botox, he provides us with the “true” Zell-like Clinton basher. he’s not John Kerry but…
jeff
dylan, I’d respond to what you said, but it’s so incoherent, i really can’t.
And i’m not the least bit conflicted by Kerry hate. He’s a creep and a scumbag (see, no conflict), but he didn’t say what Kevin said he did, so i pointed it out.
Justin O.
willyb, to say Osama is more truthful than Michael Moore….damn man you really need a reality adjustement. Whatever you think of him, he is a film-maker, and for him to have more attention than Osama is outstanding. That’s when you know you’ve hit the mark, when you really got under their skin, that they mention a film-maker during the RNC and not Osama, there’s a problem. The RNC was more like a WWE event than a politcal convention.
GR
Justin,
Of course, conventions are a large part showmanship and bs.
But, I think that the shift away from Bin Laden is overdue. If we kill him (or if he’s already dead for that matter) that doesn’t mean that the war on terror is over. Same thing for if we manage to dismantle alqaeda. Terror is decentralized.
It’s not like the talk of the islamist terrorist threat was absent from the convention. I thought that the current meme was: republicans are just trying to scare you into voting for them.
Kevin Murphy
Thanks Jeff. My mistake, although I’m now qualified to work on the Kerry campaign.
jeff
Kevin,
Either the Kerry campaign or CBS News :o)

willyb: I believe Mr. Bin Laden is honest. For instance, I believe him when he says he wants all infidels to die.
