Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Decision time: keep arguing about the last election, or try to win the next one?

Usually wrong but never in doubt

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

Stand up, dammit!

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

Democracy cannot function without a free press.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

Petty moves from a petty man.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Finding joy where we can, and muddling through where we can’t.

Giving up is unforgivable.

What’s At Stake in Wisconsin on April 1

Please watch the video below and think for a minute about how you want to spend your time in the next couple of weeks.  We can bash the Senate for making a bad choice, or we can try take some of that energy and turn it into determination that we are gonna do everything we can so that this piece of shit doesn’t get elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Please watch the video – it’s not long – and see the great answers from Susan Crawford and the slimy, sleazy, weasel-y answers that Elon Musk’s guy is trying to spin.

On Wednesday night, Brad Schimel and Judge Susan Crawford faced off for the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s only debate.

One candidate had a stellar performance. The other they’re calling “Elon Schimel.”

If we do this right, the whole world will see that no amount of Musk spending is enough to deter us from defending the country that we love.

Let’s get out there. 18 days to go.

Let’s send a message in Wisconsin and Florida, and ring the Fuck No bell loud and clear.

We are just $430 short of reaching our goal for the Florida special elections.  Let’s do it.  Thermometer is in the sidebar.

I went to college with Crawford.  She was a year behind me.  Please don’t let that stop you from supporting her.

Mobilize and the Wisconsin Dems have volunteer opportunities – it’s gonna take both money and effort to win this.

I suggest that insulting our fellow BJ commenters isn’t productive. Either engage on the issues, or just ignore comments you disagree with.

Just finished my 85th postcard, and will request more addresses tomorrow. I do 5 at a time, a couple of times per week*. It adds up.

*If I tried to do 10 at a time, I’d do zero. For me, 5 is a small-enough batch that Big Task Paralysis doesn’t set in.

Got back a while ago from Josh Weil town hall as I live in FL 6th.  It was in deep, deep red Hastings, a farming town that is rapidly changing due to rezoning and development.  I counted seats and I’d guess around 200 people were there, a good mix of races and sexes (but more women), around 10 younger people in the audience and a few among the volunteers but mostly retirement age and up.

Q & A was cut short as he arrived late and left early, but it seemed people mostly didn’t have questions- there is no question at all that everybody in the room was going to vote for him- but wanted a safe space to tell our stories and reveal our fears, the biggest of which is that we are losing our democracy.  People are scared.

Florida state representative Angie Nixon was there, and she can fire up a crowd! One of those people who radiates power and energy.

Mr. Weil isn’t at that level yet, and when I first saw his website I did a double take because he has the DJT jr hair and beard and you sort of jump a little bit when you run across that unexpectedly…he’s fine.  He’ll be fine.

I want him to win so desperately.  I love swampy snakey humid hot buggy mossy hurricane-y Florida.  I just can’t stand all the motherfucking corrupt republicans infesting the place.

Hey @WaterGirl, long-time lurker here and just wanted to say how much I appreciate you continuing to put up posts aimed at actionable, positively-framed goals and not just doomspiraling. BJ hasn’t felt quite the same this time around compared to 2017-2020 when it was a refuge. You and David Anderson have kept me coming back.

@Badluckgremlin: What a nice thing to wake up to!

I think we’ll get our feet back under us again.

We have never faced an existential threat like this before, and as we each get our shit together personally, I think BJ can be a refuge again.  All of us make the site what it is, and every voice makes a difference.

Glad to hear yours!  Now that you have commented once, I hope you will continue to comment.  :-)

Awaiting my absentee ballot now. This horror of a person in Schimel was Scott Walker’s AG while the former was killing collective bargaining and making WI a right-to-work state and bashing our higher-ed institutions, as is their wont

we’re finally starting to undo those years of mismanagement and grift and we *will not* be going back. Crawford all the way, I say

@Terraformer:   It would be worse to have had a taste of equality only to see everything rolled back.  Again.  Susann Crawford has to win.

We’ve raised what we can.  I hope people are volunteering.
