Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“In this country American means white. everybody else has to hyphenate.”

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

The willow is too close to the house.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

Museums are not America’s attic for its racist shit.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

This really is a full service blog.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

In after Baud. Damn.

I have other things to bitch about but those will have to wait.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Innocence Project Coming to WVU

Via the daily university listserv, I see that Barry Scheck is officially starting a branch of the Innocence Project here at WVU:

Famed attorney Barry Scheck will be here Monday (Sept. 26) to officially launch the Innocence Project at WVU. Scheck co-founded the first project in 1992 at Yeshiva University. Since then, the project that employs DNA analysis and traditional research has helped free some 162 wrongly convicted prisoners nationwide. Scheck will speak at 4 p.m. in the Lugar Courtroom at the College of Law. The project here is a collaboration between the law school and the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. The WVU project is now considering the applications of more that 100 inmates across West Virginia.

Good news.

Also, the unintentional comedy from listserv headlines continues:

ENGINEERING GETS TOP RANKING FOR HISPANICS

Apparently, our school of engineering builds a mean hispanic.

Why can’t the “wrongly convicted” just suck it up and do their time …. or lay down on the lethal injection table?

You lost …. get over it.

Our university newspaper recently carried the headline:

    “Engineering endows first female”

There are no innocents. Only unconvicted.

Please keep us up to date with this worthwhile project at your university. Perhaps someone can encourage family courts to move into the 21st Century and use DNA testing for positive paternity identification instead of making non-fathers pay child support for someone else’s child.

If they’re responsible for Salma Hayek, I’d say that headline is well-deserved.

DocG: The fems won that issue already. In California (where else?) judges have already decided that a father who isn’t a father but who has been a “father” to a child he did not father, has to pay support.

ppGaz – comments like that make Miss Karma come up & bitcha in the azz ne day. I can see it now, you’re driving to work real early after hanging out with the fellas at the strip club all night long. You were the designated ‘don’t get too drunk’ driver. One of your friends accidentally dropped a dub sack of coke in the back of your car. You don’t know this and you just continue on to work. A cop pulls you over for a dimm brake light out and happens to notice the lil sack in your car.Guess who’s it is now?!

Haha, life can get you at anytime. just watch out.

There are true innocents who need help and unless you’ve been locked up, you’ll have no idea how bad it is to just bend over while the law screws you.

    Now what?!
