Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

All hail the time of the bunny!

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

How stupid are these people?

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Second rate reporter says what?

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Practically Begging You To Call Him

Senator Rockefeller, constituents on line two…

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.) threw a wrench into Democratic efforts to get a public option passed through reconciliation, saying that he thought the maneuver was overly partisan and that he was inclined to oppose it. . .

“I don’t think the timing of it is very good,” the West Virginia Democrat said on Monday. “I’m probably not going to vote for that” . . . In making his sentiment known, Rockefeller becomes perhaps the most unexpected skeptic of the public-option-via-reconciliation route. The Senator was a huge booster of a government run insurance option during the legislation drafting process this past year.

Is your Democratic Senator solid on reconciliation? Maybe you should phone and find out.

Switchboard: (202) 224-3121.

Guide for first-timers here.

***Update***

Check to see whether your Senator is on mcc’s whip count list. We urgently need statements from (and pressure on) Webb, Warner, Baucus, Bingaman, Casey, McCaskill, Mikulski, Hagan and both Udalls. If you live in any of those states (VA, PA, MT, NM, MO, NC, and CO) please pick up the phone and call.

Early Morning Open Thread: Winner of This Week’s Intarwebz…

This post is in: Open Threads, Assholes, Teabagger Stupidity

Ken Layne at Wonkette, discussing the Teabaggers’ Twitter-ragegasm at Scott “Cosmo” Brown’s treachery in voting to move Obama’s jobs bill incrementally closer to passage:

If enough of Scott Brown’s girlfriends break up with him on Twitter at the same time, does Obamacare automatically pass?

That may have been the shortest political honeymoon since President Obama failed to solve every single one of America’s problems by January 23, 2009. (Although it’s distinctly possible that at least 28% of Brown’s most foam-flecked denouncers are sekrit leftists pulling a DougJ.)

I’ll give Sen. Scotty credit — he may not be quite as dumb as his previous political career had led me to believe. Or maybe Simon Cowell has finally convinced him that Ayala ain’t getting no do-overs on American Idol, so Daddy had better have at least one temp job to award this summer…

Your Senators Wonder Why You Never Call

Things look better for HCR than they have in a long time. Nancy Pelosi has the votes to pass a Senate-fix’d bill, or at least she says she does. Harry Reid clearly plans to run something through reconciliation in the next 60 days. Even the public option has a pulse!

This is the home stretch for HCR. Everything will depend on whether Harry Reid can round up 50 votes for reconciliation. If he had it already someone would have leaked the fact, but he wouldn’t get this feisty if he wasn’t close. Please phone your Democratic Senators today to find out where they stand on reconciliation. Our goal is to complete the whip count put together my mcc, so if you hear back from any Democratic Senator please note it in the comments. You might as well plug the public option as long as you have them on the phone.

Blessings to Andrew Sullivan’s blog, and to the vast and glorious YouTube, without which I would never have discovered Russia24-TV’s ethnic-themed Olympic tributes…

Seriously… I really enjoy these singers. I would actually pay cash money for a professional compilation (there are others, including some done for the Beijing Summer Olympics). Also, for a clean high-def copy of Johnny Weir’s programs, because I don’t know from skating but that version of “Fallen Angel” was one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen, and it took hella athletic skillz to make it look so easy. I’d add the link I re-watched on YouTube last night, but it’s been removed by the IOCC spoilsports.
