My first impression while reading it was a big “No Screaming Eagle Shit!” I did, however, enjoy this quote:

Asked for reaction, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi ambassador to the United States, said he did not take the briefing seriously. “I think that it is a misguided effort that is shallow, and not honest about the facts,” he said. “Repeating lies will never make them facts.”

Think about it. Repeating lies will never make them facts. What kind of lies?

Lies like this one, about the blood libel?

Or these lies about Jews poisoning fountains during the bubonic plague. That only got about 20 thousand Jews murdered.

Or maybe this one, about Jewish control of the United States Congress?

Or how bout one of my favorties, the ‘Jews run the media.’

Or more recently, the good old Jenin massacre. Oops. Can’t really call it a massacre, can we, since it never happened. Didn’t stop Saudi television from raising 100 million in a telethon to distribute to Palestinian terrorists and the families of suicide bombers, though.

Or virtually any of the bile that these putrid bastards spew any day that Charles Johnson is able to collect and document every day? Why are we dealing with these scum?

Interesting little back and forth between the Instapundit, Nick Denton, and Dave Winer. Then Winer then responds with this:

My brief response. In addition to being a technologist and living on the west coast of the US, I am also the first-generation American son of Holocaust survivors, born and raised in NY. Does Nick have any insight into my thinking? Clearly not.

I find this rather offensive, and very much like attempts by race-baiters to stifle any conversation about racial issues (You don’t know what you are talking about- You are not a black man). If the only people who are allowed to use the word holocaust are the survivors and the descendants of the survivors, then the words “Never Again” ring hollow. Surely Dave is just being lazy, and not really attempting to stifle debate with this trite response.

More details on the awful tribal gang rape in Pakistan:

Clad in traditional, loose-fitting trousers and blouse and covering her face with a black shawl, the victim said she was sitting in her house on June 22 when her maternal uncle came to their house and asked her to appear for a tribal council to “apologize” for her brother’s alleged sexual encounter.

“When I appeared before the tribal council, an elder of the council … said that since the girl has come here, therefore, we should pardon her,” she said. “But suddenly a man stood and said we will rape her.”

I have not heard the official numbers lately, but I am willing to bet that the unemployment rate is going up.

Why am I betting that? Because I have a sure-fire barometer for the unemployment rate. When it is below 5%, every one at McDonald’s looks like they are drooling, going to drool, or have drooled onto my food. When it is over 5%, the workers are under 21, have acne, and speak marginal english- but they are not droolers. Over 6%, and they are 35 and have a liberal arts degree (usually history or theater).

At any rate, tonight I had a pimply faced 21 year old, so I am betting unemployment is near 5.6%. Just a guess, though.
