Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Not all heroes wear capes.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

If a good thing happens for a bad reason, it’s still a good thing.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Stay strong, because they are weak.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

The National Guard is not Batman.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

A half dozen men of “American Origin” have been arrested in Pakistan and handed over to US authorities.

Good. Treat them as war criminals, then once we have established that they have renounced their citizenship through treasonous acts, try them in military tribunals, and then hang them by the neck until dead. If you don’t have enough rope, call me, and I will make a donation.

These people are the biggest threat to our way of life-they have passports- and they need to be terminated with the same dispassionate response you have every time you see an ant on your kitchen floor or a moth on your big screen tv. Kill them, cremate the bodies, throw the ashes somewhere unknown, and then watch their damned friends. And if this means the FBI has to sit outside a mosque or two, so be it.

Before you tell me I am eroding our rights- I agree with the ACLU damn near 50% of the time.

John Cole’s salsa recipe: One

John Cole’s salsa recipe:

One large can peeled whole tomatos
One onion cut into eighths
One half small jar of mild, medium, or hot sliced banana peppers
1/3 bunch cilantro

Throw it all in a blender for 5 bursts of the pulse. Add Kosher salt, black pepper, and white pepper to taste. Sometimes a tablespoon of good olive oil in the blender is fun.

Eat with the lime tortilla chips and drink with copious amounts of frozen fruity drinks or Coronas.

This gripe is two days old, but still…

We got screwed in the South Korea game. Period. It was the worst officiated and most biased game of soccer I have ever seen in a World Cup match. Period.

It seems silly and redundant

It seems silly and redundant to keep saying how great Will Warren’s posts are, because they are all fabulous, but this tribute to the Yorktown, her crew, and the workers who rebuilt her prior to Midway is just outstanding. Go read it.
