Apparently Art Bell is returning to Coast to Coast. v I had insomnia a couple of weeks ago, and my usual cures are AM radio or C-Span. C-Span failed, so I turned on Coast to Coast with George Noory, and it is clear to me that night time talk radio is a strange beast. One call was about a fellow who had been possessed by Demons (well- one demon, and he fought it off), another fellow lost 13 days in the Bermuda Triangle. Strange goings on, indeed.

Not Even Close
John Hawkins surveyed Right Wing Bloggers tyo find out who their favorite editorialist/opinion writers were, and the results can be found here.
For the record, my top three were:
1.) Mark Steyn
2.) David Warren
3.) Christopher Hitchens
Isabel Hysteria
Granted, if there is anything for the media to get hysterical about, a certain measure of hysteria is warranted if a Class 5 Hurricane is hurtling towards the eastern seaboard. However, I thought a lot of the coverage was a touch premature, and now, several days later, the storm is much weaker than predicted.
No real point to this post, other than it reminded me of the old Calvin Coolidge quote:
Never go out to meet trouble. If you will just sit still, nine cases out of ten someone will intercept it before it reaches you.
Mos of us know the bastardized version- “If you see ten problems coming down the road, do nothing and 9 of them will roll of into the ditch on their own.”- or some variation or another.
K Street
I watched K Street last night, and I thought it was a pretty interesting piece of work. I will be tuning in again.
*** Update ***
Here is Tom Shale’s review:
“K Street” is highly unlikely to become a national sensation, but in big cities of the East it ought to be quite the conversation piece — for a little while anyway. In a sense, the show comes off like a marvelous party, but one to which many of us are bound to feel profoundly uninvited.
Virus Update
I am still receiving a whole helluva lot of reurned messages, so someone is either still spoofing my email, or people are finally responding. Who knows. I am really sick of this whole virus thing. Grow up, you simple bastards.
In other news, my google toolbar updated itself, and google now has a wonderful pop-up blocker. It works like a charm.
Virus, Part 2
Via the Instapundit I see that Matt Welch is getting hammered by the same virus that has nuked my morning. I think I am handling it a touch better:
I’m Getting Bombarded With Virus E-mails: If you’ve received any suspicious-looking e-mail from me, please let me know in the comments. Thanks! UPDATE: OK, this is now driving me batshit. Hundreds of infected e-mails an hour, all “re: Thanks!” and “Wicked screensaver!” Is there a machete for this worm? If I have another day like today I am bound to leap over the backyard fence like a bearded, raccoon-eyed zombie and brain the neighbor’s horrendous yapping dogs, just for reasons of Closure. Please prevent caninicide today, and help me find the “patch” or whatever you kids are calling it nowadays.
In Matt’s comments section, a reader pointed to this MSNBC story explaining what is happening:
SoBig and its variants have been taunting computer users all year, starting with the original virus released in January. The sixth variant was released early Tuesday, kick-started by a mass spam mailing and quickly rising to the top of many virus threat lists.
The worm uses random subject lines and attachment names, making it hard to spot. Network Associates Inc. has seen hundreds of affected customers, said spokesman Craig Schmugar. The firm rates the virus a medium risk. Symantec Corp. has received 300 submissions from customers, most from home users, said Weafer, and rates the virus a 3 on a scale of 1 to 5.
But even those who weren
SPAM
I do not know if I am alone, but lately the amount of SPAM I am receiving has been through the roof. Putting aside the fact that I am amazed that all of these people know that I need to lose weight, earn more money at home, and have a bigger penis, I find the email annoying, to say the least.
At any rate, because of SPAM, I have 5 email addresses, of which only two are public. One of those is a hotmail account that I use for this weblog. I am not sure how the hotmail filter works, but I am assuming that every time I block someone, somewhere at Hotmail HQ this is tallied (for me individually so I receive no more mail from that source, and for the company). If my assumption is correct, providers like AOL, YAHOO, and Hotmail, once they receive enough tallies from individuals like me regarding a particular source, will ban that source. If that is indeed the case, I hereby plead with all fellow Hotmail users to do as I do- block the spam source every time you get one in your junk mail folder. This is the only thing I can think to do to fight it.
If I am correct in my assumptions, let me know.
