Apparently the loudmouthed huckster that I posted about here, U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo), is a repeat offender according to Hanks. I am still waiting on the official party line from the left, as well as the snide and condescending ripostes explaining how I am simplistic and just don’t understand that she was talking in the broadest sense (like Patty Murray, and not like Trent Lott, you see).
In case you are forgetting who Rep. Kaptur is, she is the original “no war for oil” useful idiot.
*** Update ***
If you listen closely, you can probably here the Charge of the Lightweight Brigade rushing to Kaptur’s defense:
Bow-tie implied that she was making the “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter” argument. Click the link to discover that she was doing no such thing. She was just warning of the dangers of confronting an enemy which combined political cause with religious zeal, not in any way being an apologist.
Betcha those guys don’t read Clayton Cramer.

Perhaps ‘speaking in the broadest sense’ coming from ‘a broad’ is the problem! :-)

Word to the wise if they are from Toledo odds are high that they are wierd. I speak from experience. A Democrat from Toledo you don’t even have to ask.
HH
So as long as she’s making the morally vacant observation that al Qaeda and the founders of our country are a lot alike in the form of a WARNING, it’s just jim-dandy.
HH
P.S. Did I mention intellectually vacant as well?
HH
P.P.S. One little tidbit Atrios neglected to include (which probably explains why there was no link to the transcript) – Donk hero Paul Begala’s response:
“BEGALA: Disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful. You were right to call her on it and I just — I can’t defend it. I never will — the notion that anybody could compare this murderer to our Founding Fathers is insane.”
Atrios and the Atriettes are officially more of partisan apologists than Paul friggin’ Begala. In case you didn’t know that already.
John Cole
Paul Begala is actually a center-left moderate DLC typ Democrat. It is just that he is a feirce partisan and a Clinton kool-aid drinker that makes him seem so shrill and unreasonable.
HH
Kaptur’s response to the criticism seems to solidify that she was calling terrorists mere “revolutionaries.”
