The Atriettes are using this story as proof that everyone in Africa hates Bush:
In South Africa’s capital of Pretoria, about 1,000 demonstrators marched peacefully to the U.S. Embassy, protesting Bush’s war in Iraq and trip to Africa. About two dozen police officers and a handful of embassy employees looked on as demonstrators burned several small American flags emblazoned with slogans against Bush.
“We stand together with millions of people throughout the world and say that the biggest weapon of mass destruction is George W. Bush,” Salim Vally of the Anti-War Coalition said in a speech.
Do a little googling. Look up the Anti-War coalition. Look up the Palestinian Solidarity Committee. Look up Salim Vally. Find out what large groups they are all associated with. And would you please quit telling me that I can’t use the ANSWER crowd and the anti-war protestors against Democrats who use their underlings to bash Bush.

That place has gone from little democratic underground to sesame street for uber-leftists since it became a group blog. What a trip.

The protesters are a tiny minority. Most South Africans and southern Africans really don’t give a shit about the war in Iraq and all the political bullshit that goes on. We’ve got problems of our own to deal with, e.g. shitty economies, poor exchange rates, poor presidents and leaders. The list just goes on …

I stopped reading that bottom-feeding site months ago. I crave dissenting views from my own (that’s how you learn, folks) but the people at that site are just nuts. Especially the commenters. Ugh.
I don’t care what your politics are, if you have a brain & can express your opinion, I can respect you to the hilt (Yglesias). Those folks are so partisan that they’re living parodies of the tin-foil hat crowd (add the Kos crowd and their Iraqi cheerleading commenters to that mix).
What a terrible life to live…filled with that much hatred and ignorance. I stopped reading loons a while back & can think of no reason to revisit my decision to do so.
