Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

American History and Black History Cannot Be Separated

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

“woke” is the new caravan.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Consistently wrong since 2002

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Everybody saw this coming.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Am I the only one who thinks it is pretty cool that 44 year old Dodger Ricky Henderson hit a home run last night?

Not as cool as the fact that it was his second (in 13 at bats) since joining the Dodgers.

Now, if he’ll just keep his mouth shut. . .

Well, I realize how trifling this is, but it’s Rickey Henderson, and it’s been that way for a long, long time.

I was overjoyed to hear that the Dodgers picked you to help them make a push for the playoffs.
You gave Oakland A fans many great years…Thank you!!!
Even though I’m not a Dodger fan
“Hats off to the Dodger organization, bringing you back to the majors was a classy thing to do. Here’s hoping your team get into the playoffs. Heck with those naysayers. You got heart!
    Go Ricky! Knock them dead

I really can’t beleive the majors have treated Ricky like a roookie or a nobody due to his age. The Dodgers are classy and that’s why they hired him. They appreciate what the guy did for baseball in the last 3 decades and eventhough he may be on the bench, it gives the game power, nostalgia, and memories that we still have one of the great ones in baseball.
Pete was taken away, we lost Mcguire early, Dale Murphy left early, Strawberry lost his mind, The Doc left before time, Bo Jackson(had the best future I ever saw for a player, specially in his 1st allstar game- 1st pitch, line drive homer to the deepest part of the field, stole a ball walking on the center field wall against the laws of gravity; still have not seen a player with so much power. Just Imagine the records that never were.
Can’t leave Keith Kernandez out, Wally Backman, Mookie Wilson,
and how about one of the great ones that left earth and the gane before his time, the Great Roberto Clemente.
Ricky it’s good to have you in the game still.
A baseball fan, not a money fan.

When growing up in oakland, california during the mid and late eighties baseball was still a past time and our summer days were spent amid dreams and chimeras of lead off homeruns and 80 plus stolen base seasons. Thanks to ricky several us local boys were fueled by his vigor, competiveness and un-paralleled innate talent. I have seen and played with alot of ball players, from neighborhood pal Jason Kidd to many other professional baseball players(mind you, people first went to watch a 12 year old j. kidd hit 300ft shots over the catholic school sanctuary-he was a first rounder and major league allstar) whom were influenced by Rickys play and not his so called malevolent personality. I’ve walked and ridden the streets that helped mold him, though this should never be an excuse for anyones actions, but not all can defeat and/or overcome such tulmultous influences. Ricky Henderson was the best ball player I have ever seen, he could run(quickest 3 steps next to barry sanders), he could hit for power and he could talk plenty of B.S.(or could he, ha!). Run Ricky Run(what we called pickle-as a kid i designed this game i), we love you!

check out the oakland tribune online from March 1, 2004. There’s an article about Ricky and his plans. I’m a huge fan and would love to see a ballclub pick him up.
