Oliver indignantly decries the list of the 20 worst Americans created by a consortium of center right and right wing bloggers, stating:
Cornered The Market On Deranged
Right wing bloggers picked the “worst” people in American history. Bill & Hillary Clinton beat out Tim McVeigh and Lee Harvey Oswald.
The left will never be that crazy.
As you may recall, I agreed with Oliver and others who said the Clintons, no matter how much you disliked their politics and despite the scandals did not belong on the list. Twenty hours later, Oliver submits his own list of the ten worst Americans:
… and the ten worst? I didn’t bother including serial killers, because any rational person wouldn’t defend them anyway.
Richard Nixon
Henry Kissinger
Ronald Reagan
Al Sharpton
Jerry Falwell
Kenneth Starr
Dick Cheney
Wayne LaPierre
Ann Coulter
Flag Burners
Enjoy the irony.
Oliver
As I said in my comments, my argument with that list is ranking Clinton as worse than Oswald/McVeigh and the like. I expect the right wing to dislike Clinton in the same way I do Reagan – but as bad as Ronnie is he never killed a president. Of course, there were a few innocents he ordered killed via military – but that’s where the Kissingers of the world come in.

So Oliver, how can somebody who runs an organization that defends the Bill of Rights be a bad American? Wayne LaPierre just happens to believe that a “living, breathing Constitution” is a pile BS.

Oliver- We are playing comments section tag. I think you misunderstood how the right wing list was created. Here is what I posted on your site:
They didn’t rank them Oliver- we submitted our lists in no particular order. The appropriate way to view the list is that 10 of the 30 bloggers put Hillary on their list, 15 put Bill on their list, and 10 put Mc Veigh on their list. The order John put them up does not mean that there are bloggers out there who think that Hillary is worse than McVeigh- but rather 10 of the 30 bloggers voted for McVeigh, 10 of the 30 bloggers voted for Hillary. IN fact, it is entirely possible for one blogger to vote for Bill, Hillary, and McVeigh, and still think that McVeigh was the worst of the lot.

Since Oliver only reads right-wing blogs when they link to criticize him, he probably also doesn’t know that a great many of the top right-wing blogs took issue with the fringe-y-ness of Hawkins’ poll results. But he thinks he’s having a good joke at our expense, so I suppose we should just laugh along ;-)

*snicker* Nice of Oliver to confirm the comment I made in your last post on this subject predicting the names the lefty bloggers would select less than twenty four hours after I made it.
Barney, if you’re reading this–yes, I am feeling rather smug right now.

If I had the time, I’d post all the folks on the left who swore that lefties would never come up with a ‘worst americans’ list.

Amazing that Ann Coulter made his ten worst list, but nobody that did actual damage to our national security (Aldridge Ames, for example) did.
So, what’s the moral, Oliver? That engaging in rhetorical excess trumps selling your country down the river, in your judgement? In that case, I wonder why James Carville was passed over.
Oh. It’s right-wing rhetorical excess that’s bad. Left-wing spouting gets a pass.

Still tying to defend your bretheren, Cole?
Pathetic.
Sadly, this demonstrates there is no moderate wing on the right; lunacy is the norm.
John Cole
How is this a defense of anyone? I am attacking Oliver’s hypocrisy.
You really are dumb as a sack of hammers.

Jadegold misspelled her address and I all I got was this lousy biblical website.
Looks as if she needs work with reading AND writing. And a serious course in manners.

so true, Looks as if she needs work with reading AND writing.
