Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

Bark louder, little dog.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

How stupid are these people?

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Oppose, oppose, oppose. do not congratulate. this is not business as usual.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Giving up is unforgivable.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

A Real National Disgrace

I feel like the Soviets must have felt like in 1980:

Now here’s a stunner: The defending champion U.S. baseball team will be at home next summer while countries like the Netherlands and Italy compete for an Olympic medal in Athens.

Manager Frank Robinson and his team of mostly minor leaguers were beaten at their own game, falling to Mexico 2-1 Friday — a loss that eliminated them from a qualifying tournament with no second chances.

I am really speechless.

In which sport did the Soviets have a team of mostly minor leaguers in 1980?

Unfortunately, the timing of the Summer Olympics pretty much guarantees that the best players won’t participate–they happen in mid-summer, right in the middle of the MLB season–the same is true for the Japanese major leagues. You’re not going to see “dream teams” coming from the Dominican Republic, Japan, and the United States for this reason, which is why the upset in 2000 was such a big deal–US minor leaguers beat Castro’s squad of captive players who would probably be playing major league ball–or at least AAA–were it not for pointed guns keeping them in Cuba.

Well don’t worry Athens plans to hold the Olympics are so behind they might not finish it by then.

There’s your miserable failure. And Bush is supposed to know baseball. Feh.

Who Says the US is Invincible?

The US gets beaten at its own game. Maybe in baseball they don’t just whine about hyperpuissance but just buckle down and do something about it. Congratulations to Mexico. We’ll get ya next year……
