Quit defending Kerry over the medal flap. He has lied repeatedly about the issue, and no amount of righteous indignation, absurd outbursts, and silly attacks on President Bush can take back the lies.
When are these pols going to learn they can’t get away with it anymore?
At any rate, I find it rich that Kerry’s only defense of his repeated lying is a transparent and lame attack on Bush:
I mean, this is a controversy that the republicans are pushing. The Republicans have spent $60 million in the last few weeks trying to attack me. And this comes from a president and a Republican party that can’t even answer whether or not he showed up for duty in the national guard. I’m not going to stand for it.
Good- you shouldn’t stand for it- you should sit there and STFU and hope the situation blows over as soon as possible, because you are caught in a lie. And, btw, so much for not wanting to discuss Bush’s military service (didn’t Kerry get the notes that there is no there there?)- I guess we will just call that flip-flop number 2000.
At any rate, Kerry needs to be careful- he actually challenged Charlie Gibson to ‘go back and get the file footage,’ something I am very in favor of. I would like to have a video of Kerry throwing military medals away shown over and over and over again, every night on the news, all the way up to the election.

That was a pretty lame meltdown by Kerry.
His defense: “WAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! The nasty Republicans are spending a lot of money to talk about me! Mommy, mak ethem stop! Wahhhhh!”
Whiny little bitch…
M. Scott Eiland
This is Kerry’s equivalent of Shrillary’s “vast right-wing conspiracy” moment–only Kerry can’t recover later by blaming his spouse’s gonads for getting him into the situation.

What happened to “Bring It On!”?
Ralph Gizzip
And Kerry had the temerity to accuse Charlie Gibson of working for the Republican National Committee. (Kerry unaware being taped after GMA segment, “Geez… They’re working for the Republican National Committee” of ABC’s Charlie Gibson, GMA Staff… ) found on Drudg.

hahahahahahahahaha!
When he starts losing ABC, he’s toast.
What a whiny bitch.
CRY BABY CRY BABY CRY!

Sounds like Kerry can’t decide if he wants to be Hillary Clinton or Gary Hart (“Follow me around all you want. You’ll be bored.”).

That’s right….we can’t have none of those Kerry lies…. when Bush is the OG of the game.

All partisan rhetoric aside, I REALLY think this issue, along with Kerry’s numberless other flip-flops, and his COMPLETELY tone deaf approach to them (“I actually voted for the $87 billion, before I voted against it.”?!?!?!?!?! WTF was up with THAT little piece of stupidity??), bodes VERY ill for the Kerry campaign.
If you can remember back to 2000, I believe that the most successful attack on Al Gore was the meme (played up very large in the blogosphere) that Gore was a liar. Remember, he “invented the Internet,” was the inspiration for “Love Story,” etc., etc. Now, in fact, many of those statements (not all, but certainly many of the ones he was most vilified for), when examined in context, were nothing more than exaggerations. But many Americans, after giving him the benefit of the doubt on one or two of those, lost patience. His mother’s medicine cost more than his dog’s. Oops, that’s not what I meant. “I held my sister’s hand while she was dying” vs. “I planted tobacco, I hoed tobacco” Well, tobacco IS evil – unless I’m in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, etc. Ultimately, I think the repeated blows to his credibility had as much to do with sinking his candidacy than anything else.
In Kerry’s case, where the conflicting statements can be shown ON THE RECORD to be flat out lies, or at least obvious and incontestable flip-flops, it will KILL him, politically. The American people don’t want “nuance,” they want someone to say what they mean, and stick by what they say. And, whether you agree or not, I think the polls show that, of the two, far more Americans believe what W says than believe what Kerry says.
A long time until November, I know, but unless there is a DRAMATIC change of direction in this campaign, Kerry is TOAST.
Kimmitt
Kerry’s too smart and mean to stay on the defensive. He’s gonna keep on the attack as much as possible; Bush gives him lots of ammunition. The Dem Party selected Kerry for his dirty meanness; a month or so from now, we’re going to see some very effective, very nasty attack ads.
Flagwaver
Well, Kimmitt, back when I still had time for such nonsense, and I was taking karate lessons, my sensei used to tell us that “you can’t punch effectively from your shoulders; your hips, legs and feet are the BASE from which you punch! If your stance is weak, your punch is weak!” And he’d illustrate his point to us.
If Kerry wants to “attack” Bush from his precarious stand on the unsteady pile of crap and garbage that is his public record, I guess my only comment is . . . (wait for it) . . . (here it comes) . . .
BRING IT ON!!!!!
Or, as Kerry would know if he weren’t such a feckless pussy, the real street version is,
BRING IT, BIATCH!!!
Kimmitt
Bush demonstrated quite clearly during his gubernatorial elections and his Presidential race that the foundation for attacks is irrelevant; only the attacks themselves and the consistency with which they are repeated matters.
Flagwaver
Keep thinkin’ that way, Kimmitt. That way, when the farkin’ freight train hits you, come November, you’ll be sitting there, crying in your beer, and mumbling, “But Kerry is so MEAN! And TOUGH! And he was SUCH a great campaigner!! He kept POUNDING on Bush’s National Guard service! He kept pointing out how he SERVED IN VIET NAM!! HOW COULD HE LOSE???”
And I’ll be laughin’ my ass off.

If I had my way I wouldn’t vote Kerry for Dog catcher. Everytime he speaks you see the Senior Drunk From Mass moving his arm muscles. Not to mention Hillary in the corner with the Deputy Dawg Voodoo doll making Kerry flip flop like a fish just pulled into the boat. When this whole issue of his Viet Nam days came up I said so what. I want to hear what he is going to do now. Then the thing about his medals came up. Then he lied and said he threw them over the fence, then he didn’t throw his they were somebody elses. Now all of a sudden he threw his ribbons over. WTF. I earned a few medals from my days in uniform. I am pround of those shiny little discs with the colored material that they hang from. I earned the. They weren’t given to me. I did things in the military that I wasn’t proud of, but I carried out the orders that were given to me. I have friend’s sons that are now serving in Iraq. I thank those men everytime I see them.
As far as any plan that Kerry has for the Military I trust him about as far as I do Hillary. They want to redistribute everybody’s wealth but their own. Why should I support some White Trash Mother with 13 kids living a trailer with the drunk non working live in boyfriend, becuase if they get married she loses her housing, food stamps, and money. Hell she makes more money on welfare than she ever could working. She doesn’t pay taxes. Gets back more money than she puts into the system. I have more respect for the 22 year old that working a minimum wage job and going to school full time and trying to better themselves. Tell me why I should vote for Kerry?
Kimmitt
“Why should I support some White Trash Mother with 13 kids living a trailer with the drunk non working live in boyfriend, becuase if they get married she loses her housing, food stamps, and money.”
Under Welfare Reform, this woman is only eligible for five years of assistance — TANF cuts her off after that. We’re starting to hit that wall for some folks; I suspect they’ll be out on the street before long.
“Hell she makes more money on welfare than she ever could working.”
Would you please do me the honor of supporting this statement? Most TANF families receive something like $2-300 per month; it is not particularly difficult to exceed this figure working.
“She doesn’t pay taxes. Gets back more money than she puts into the system.”
Well, in any system in which we do things based on need, rather than on investment, that’s how it’s going to work; some people will get more out than they put in. I’m more of a fan of the “citizen” model than the “shareholder” model of government anyway.
“I have more respect for the 22 year old that working a minimum wage job and going to school full time and trying to better themselves.”
Then why would you vote for a man who is against raising the minimum wage, slashed Americorps, and cut Pell Grants and other supports for college students and continuing students?
“Tell me why I should vote for Kerry?”
I can’t tell you why you should vote for Kerry; I don’t know what your core issues are.
