Chris Rock sucked. Period.
Robin Williams was funnier in two minutes than Rock was the entire night. I am pissed at Rock for making me agree with Sean Penn- what the hell was Rock doing belittling Jude Law, who is a fairly talented actor?
I watched the broadcast, and one thing I noticed was that there are very few actresses who still look flawless in high definition. Those include Hillary Swank, Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet, Selma Hayek, and Beyonce. The rest just looked average. My personal favortie is Scarlett Johansson, who I think is simply flawless.

The only comment from Rock that made me smile was when he commented about Tim Robbins “boring us with his politics”…that was simply precious!

I can’t say that I watch the Oscars all that often, and I missed the first half hour or so of the show and his opening monologue, but from what I saw Rock was fine. His line about handing out minor Oscars at a drive-thru window in the parking lot next year was good.
It’s the show that sucks. Maybe they could put some of the big awards earlier in the show and cut out some of those crappy songs and do the minor Oscars on a separate cable show. Or are they doing that yet?

The truth is that Rock sucked because he wasn’t funny…anyone who watched the montage of Johnny Carson clips from when he hosted the Academy Awards got to see a man who was truly funny AND conducted himself with dignity and class. But I guess asking people to behave in a dignified manner would be a violation of their First Amendment rights, now wouldn’t it?
