Chris Rock sucked. Period.
Robin Williams was funnier in two minutes than Rock was the entire night. I am pissed at Rock for making me agree with Sean Penn- what the hell was Rock doing belittling Jude Law, who is a fairly talented actor?
I watched the broadcast, and one thing I noticed was that there are very few actresses who still look flawless in high definition. Those include Hillary Swank, Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet, Selma Hayek, and Beyonce. The rest just looked average. My personal favortie is Scarlett Johansson, who I think is simply flawless.
The only comment from Rock that made me smile was when he commented about Tim Robbins “boring us with his politics”…that was simply precious!
I can’t say that I watch the Oscars all that often, and I missed the first half hour or so of the show and his opening monologue, but from what I saw Rock was fine. His line about handing out minor Oscars at a drive-thru window in the parking lot next year was good.
It’s the show that sucks. Maybe they could put some of the big awards earlier in the show and cut out some of those crappy songs and do the minor Oscars on a separate cable show. Or are they doing that yet?
The first half hour set the tone, and if you watched it, you never recovered.
By way, there was a lot of static on this website about alleged Democratic racism involving the appointments of Rice and Gonzales. That doesn’t apply to right-wingers who don’t like African American comedians, does it?
My comments about Chris Rock are because he sucked (and I am a Chris Rock fan). Not bcause he is conservative and black, and may later be even harder to block as a Supreme Court nominee.
Why are you such a jackass sometimes, Bob?
Bob, you should try not being a complete moron ALL the time. It’s just not healthy. Then again, your credibility is already lying in a ditch so I guess no harm done.
derek, did you actually want to comment on the blog or me? I’m flattered at the attention, but really.
It’s nice to know that Chris Rock is okay because he’s “conservative.” You know, they had honorary Aryans in 30s Germany. As long as you worked for a protected corporation you were okay. At least for awhile.
See previous post.
Then, the aryans investigated your domain registries and outed your sex life.
I am sorry to have to report that I found an image of the incomparably lovely Natalie Portman that made her look less than flawless several months back: http://www.cdharris.net/archives/2004_07.html#003824

No one’s perfect, Dodd. :-)
“It’s nice to know that Chris Rock is okay because he’s “conservative.” You know, they had honorary Aryans in 30s Germany. As long as you worked for a protected corporation you were okay. At least for awhile.”
This would be ridiculous even if it wasn’t based on a complete misunderstanding of Cole’s comment.
These award shows are bbbooorrriinngg i mean all you get is a bunch of rich hollywood leftists out there getting undeserved awards for some worthless celuloid junk film i mean ROBIN WILLIAMS is a dork and he tell some nasty foul mouthed jokes who want to listen to these toilet mouths? no me
So it’s okay to to like or dislike Chris Rock regardless of his racial/ethnic background? How about Condi and Alberto? You knee-jerk righties, ha ha ha! Everything is black and white with you.
By the way, I agree with the above poster. Salma Hayek.
Yo, Bob, ever heard of Miguel Estrada? He was “especially dangerous because….he is Latino…”
Wasn’t “knee-jerk righties” who said that.
Okay Bob, please point out to me where ANY of the contributers to this thread or the author of this thread made ANY comment about disliking ANYONE (including Chris Rock) simply because of their ethnicity.
So, since you can’t answer that, I guess it’s okay for me to assume that you are an elitist, gun-grabbing, self-indulgent, leftist moron even though you haven’t elicited any of those traits. Well, except the moron part.
The truth is that Rock sucked because he wasn’t funny…anyone who watched the montage of Johnny Carson clips from when he hosted the Academy Awards got to see a man who was truly funny AND conducted himself with dignity and class. But I guess asking people to behave in a dignified manner would be a violation of their First Amendment rights, now wouldn’t it?
