Steve Gilliard’s public meltdown continues as he rants incoherently in a public letter to Robert George (George’s latest take is here):
Dearest Robert,
I would e-mail you this, but since you monitor my site, I will just post it up.
Robert, Robert, Robert, why did you need Andy Sullivan of all people, to stick up for you?
You know, even though we disagree, I thought you were a man.
I was wrong.
I mean, if you didn’t like my illustration of Michael Steele, you could have e-mailed me ([email protected]) or posted up. I wouldn’t have agreed with you, but I would have respected you.
But you didn’t. You ran to Andy “Bell Curve” Sullivan. My God man, have you no pride, no dignity. Not only did you need a white man to fight your battles, but a racist one at that. One who thinks blacks are intellectually inferior. People like you.
I have no idea what Steve is talking about, since Robert posted about the matter prior to Sullivan saying anything (Sullivan even gave Robert the Hat Tip) about the issue, but this is amusing to watch.
Also entertaining is that Steve’s Sambo schtick caught the eye of the WaPo, who noted that the Kaine campaign’s ad withdrawal:
A racially charged image of Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele on the Web site of a liberal blogger brought recriminations from both Democrats and Republicans yesterday.
The doctored photo of Steele (R) as a minstrel, and accompanying slurs, prompted Virginia gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine (D) to pull an ad from the site, stevegilliard.blogspot.com . Kaine’s campaign had purchased the space through a broker that put his advertising on numerous liberal-leaning blogs.
In other blogfight news, Peter Daou fires back at BlackFive and LGF.

Gillard gets up, swings and knocks down the ring girl! The force of the swing spins him around and again poor Gillard is down!
Daou writes well, offers a decent POINT-COUNTERPOINT section and really does a good job of refuting the meme that liberals want American soldiers to die because they want Bush to look bad.
Along those same lines: it doesn’t take dead soldiers to make Bush look bad. Just a microphone or a bicycle and its like a drunk Jerry Lewis, except they liked Jerry Lewis in France.

Good for Daou for offering reasoned, well-articulated points in the face of the usual “you hate ‘Murica” tripe. Too bad few will actually take the time to read them.

If the Gilliard mess was a real boxing match, I’d be yelling at the ref to stop things before he suffered permanant damage. Well, more than he already has.
Daou wrote a well-reaoned, intelligent rebuttal picking apart the simple-minded arguments of his opponents.
How the hell does he expect to win a fight that way?

The Gilliard deal is making the local, radio news here too. I heard about it on the CBS news/traffic radio station in DC.
