No thoughts yet, John, on the Patriot Act thingy-ding?
Kiganshee
But what about the Festivus feats of strength?

The Pirates don’t properly appreciate Craig Wilson! My cat has a weak stomach! Ana Lucia is sucking all the life out of Lost!
Don’t worry; I’ll have plenty more left over for Tuesday.

I am likely going to be filing a greavance about the Steelers/Vikings game but right now just giving you a warning. Also, there was no Friday Beer Blog. WTH?

Amen.

I hope Tommy Maddox isn’t surfing by next week.

I got my grievance right here: no beer post on a Friday night. This is not right. It will not stand.
Oh. My glass is empty. Rant suspended until further notice.

Grievance: Why don’t all satellite radio receivers use the same power supply accessories? I want capital punishment for the people who build these things.
Okay, just corporal punishment. But severe corporal punishment. Torture would be good. Good old fashioned Bush-Cheney torture.
Okay, just verbal torture. But severe verbal torture.

Or wrapping them in the flag of your local cable provider.

Oka, here’s a real grievance: Why does this blog fail to break the kneecaps of commenters who say things like “I’m subsidizing unhealthy people with my health insurance premiums?” Slightly paraphrased, I don’t feel like looking up the original quote.
Health care costs, insurance availability, and access to care are a large, growing, real time ongoing disaster for millions of families in this country. The cost of care is now increasing at double-digit annual rates according to this series in NYT. Read-da-hole-thing as they say, because the horror stories in this article will curl your hair if you are lucky enough to have hair.

So here we are with a government that coddles a set of rich industries like BigPharma and
ManipulatedManaged Care, pays only lip service to these real life-and-death issues, and then plays politics and power games with a phony War on Terror, a bullshit Patriot Act, and executive-branch-ordered spying on ordinary Americans … and yet the people do not assemble in the streets and march on these negligent motherfuckers! What’s up with that?
Shygetz
We’re afraid we might catch the flu and die for lack of health care if we march in this weather.

Let’s here it for Scrooge!
BAH HUMBUG!

Good point.

It wouldn’t be a real Festivus celebration unless John Cole wrestles someone – Amanda from Pandagon, perhaps?
Krista
Or ppGaz from Balloon Juice. That I’d pay to see.

“Health care costs, insurance availability, and access to care are a large, growing, real time ongoing disaster for millions of families in this country”
And now, businesses too.
The AMA spends a fortune highlighting every problem with national health care elsewhere, but as anyone who has lived in Germany or Canada (like me) and you will find they prefer any system over that of the US. World Bank Stats show the American people spend more on health care than anyone, yet receive inferior care.
