Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Republicans firmly believe having an abortion is a very personal, very private decision between a woman and J.D. Vance.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

“woke” is the new caravan.

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

The words do not have to be perfect.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

My Pandora station for the Red Hot Chili Peppers is currently playing Splender-I Don’t Understand, and this is why:

Base on what you’ve told us so far, we’re playing this trach because it features a subtle use of vocal harmony, myld rhythmic syncopation, repetitive melodic phrasing, and many other similarities identified in the music genome project.

Simply amazing.

Damn, John, and I thought I loved my MSN Radio.

I’m grooving to my Morcheeba station while I try to do pre-press on all the year-end ads we are running.

John – I got the same response when I put in Sugarland except they added the word “twang” somewhere.

RHCP and Sugarland don’t have much in common which leads me to believe that Pandora is indeed somewhat limited – not even as good as my Comcast Rhapsody radio station builder that does the same thing.

John, what pop song doesn’t have vocal harmony, mild rhythmic syncopation and repetitive melodic phrasing?

I’m playing a smooth jazz mix and somehow ended up with Percy Sledge and the Blind Boys of Alabama. And both worked!

Timeless prose by Pandora that is not.

I would simply like to know when Stirling Newberry started to write for Pandora. Isn’t there a payola scam here? Or something.

Well, I assumed that you were clerking for the Ninth District in Ankorage, actually. Depending on the beast, though, it may be a config issue on your client side.

one could do far worse than a day of _Pal Joey_. Problem is, the lyrics tend to be NSFW.

    Splender – there’s a name I haven’t heard in about five years.

I’m interested to see what Pandora suggests based on my recommendation of “Husker Du”.
