In the Iraqui Civil War which side is the Union and which side is the Confederacy? I think we need to nail this down so that GW Bush will have a hand dandy mental referance when thinking about the conflict. I hear that a reference point is a good mental aid and, well, we all know how much help our leader needs.
My vote: The Shiite controlled government is the Union, while the roadside-bomb-building insurgents are the rebels.

I think the Bush administration has set a new land speed record for the squandering of good will…

Why do I spend so much time playing Civ IV? John, you were wrong, it is NOT teh suck.

I thought the Kurds got to play the Confederates! Isn’t that why Bush likes them?
The bottom line is, it’s hard to fit a three-pronged civil war (that’s excluding the bit players, like Christians, Assyrians, and Turkomen) into the two-sided context of the US Civil War. It’s like when you try and plug your laptop into an outlet in an old house, and you don’t have an outlet adaptor. There. That should help clear up the Iraq situation for our C-in-C. Iraq: US Civil War:: 3-pronged adaptor: 2-prong outlet.
Now he knows. And in the words of his top military advisers, the G.I. Joes, “Knowing is half the battle.”

Haven’t played that one, but have heard good things. I do enjoy Master of Orion, so I’d probably enjoy Alpha Centauri too, I’m thinking.

Sorry to change the subject from the Armageddon- but since I know John has blogged about food in the past and this is an open post- a tip for all you who love Ranch dressing but want to watch the cals. Get those Hidden Valley Ranch dressing packets and blend it with plain yogurt. Add a tablespoon or so of mayo to taste, if you want. Delish – and low cal.

I have a thought on a very important subject. Please, can anyone tell me, especially the ladies, why people insist on taking the stall next to you in a public bathroom when there are many other stalls available? Why does this consistently happen? It doesn’t matter how many empty stalls there are, or whether I take the first or the last stall- if another person comes in- they take the one right next to me. Is this the human pack mentality? Is this perhaps some instinctual vestige of some ancient times when tribe members were supposed to leave their waste in designated common areas, or perhaps went in groups so that they could protect each other from wild animals? Someone should really do a study on this. – Love these open threads.
