I suspect that pretty soon, we shall learn what Abramoff knows:

Disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff may be getting out of jail earlier than he expected, NBC News learned on Monday. A federal judge Monday granted the government’s request for a new hearing to determine an appropriate reduction in Abramoff’s sentence, a reward based on his continued cooperation with investigators in several federal probes.

Abramoff is currently serving a five-and-a-half-year sentence for his conviction in the Florida-based SunCruz Casinos gambling boat fraud case. In Miami, U.S. District Judge Paul Huck granted the request from prosecutors once they told him Abramoff’s cooperation in the investigations is fully completed.

That means he has given the goods.

Or it means the Feds are pulling a David Hicks.

“Yeah, we’ve decided that the investigation is done, and Abramoff has done such an excellent job, we’re cutting him loose early with a 9-month prison sentence and a gag order for life.”

However, given the ongoing US Attorneys scandal, who has any confidence that this is not being manipulated for political gain by the Bush admin? Until this mess is cleaned up, no action by the US Justice Department will be without suspicion.

To whom, is the question. Someone who is going to use it or someone who is going to stuff it back under the rug. It appears he has spilled the beans, but perhaps, that is not exactly so.

LOL. My thought too. People have faith in this admin.

Maybe in his next court appearance he’ll say “Yes your honor, I bought a lot of Republicans and they were eager sellers, but everyone knows the Democrats are worse.” The Pubs would like that said in a courtroom. Be in a transcript. Add weight to their known truth.

The perpetual falling of the other shoe, and the lack of its thunk on the floor, is annoying.

Wake me up when the shoe hits. As near as I can tell, all these shoes are in orbit around the earth, falling perpetually and harmlessly.

Right. Given them to a current US Attorney. Wonder what that guy’s loyalty and president’s initiative numbers are.

But not to worry, if he doesn’t follow up, that could hurt the Attorney General’s reputation.

    Cunningham, Ney, DeLay, Foley, Libby…
Shoes are hitting pavement. Honestly, it’s a credit to our system of government that so many shoes have hit so much pavement when the government was bought and paid for by the party breaking all the rules.

Investigations are ramping up. Gonzo wouldn’t even BE looking at Senate testimony, this would all be a non-story, two years ago. I’m less worried now, while Democrats are showing they have something to prove, than I am two years from now when they control every angle of government save a wobbly seat on the SCOTUS. Will President Hillary be as zealous in persecuting the lingering lawbreakers or will we be back to business as usual? Will President Obama have the balls to clean house in the CBC when the inevitable Democratic corruption starts spilling back out again? Will Majority Leader Reid and Speaker Pelosi hold the line on pork? I honestly don’t see it in the cards. But only time will tell.

I say Tim F or John start a death pool. How long before Abramoff dies of natural, cough-cough, causes?

I say a heart attack within 2 months.

Still leads one to wonder what horrors are still out there that our “loyal” DOJ can’t or won’t bring themselves to touch.

I’m with the rest, here: I’d need to know which US Attorney’s office Abramoff has been working with. If it’s one of Rove’s or Regent University’s Little Elves, then the one thing you can be sure of is that Republicans will be protected.

Considering the fact that Griles (the go-between for Abramoff and Gail Norton via his girlfriend, Italia Federici) got off with a slap on the wrist …. and doesn’t even have to co-operate with further prosecutions … I’d say that Cole’s predicition is premature at best.

we’re ALL a bunch of pessimists

And I thought I was the only one. Here’s my entry in the Championship Pessimism Marathon: He’s not giving up real information to be shredded and burned; the DOJ is working with him on a false story that absolves the guilty and, just possibly, trashes some we-didn’t-like-them-anyway small fry to make it look real. I’ll bet Abramoff performs better in rehearsals than Alberto Gunseles.

Did the bill passed by congress, which Bush threatens to veto, contain enough funding to actually armour and equip our troops over there?

Did the bill passed by congress, which Bush threatens to veto, contain enough funding to actually armour and equip our troops over there?

And how. It’s actually $20 billion bigger than Bush’s request, with supplementals to fix up Walter Reed, to refresh supplies in Afganistan, to pay for more wounded veterans’ healthcare benefits, and much much more. Democrats went over and above the call of duty when it came to spending money on our troops.

“That means he has given the goods.”

Or it could mean corrupt presecutors have reduced the amount of goods required to get a reduced sentence.

It seems completely disengenuous to assume that Abramoff will get a reduced sentence for the right reasons.

    Beware faulty leaps of logic.
