I don’t think we are going to hit 15k by tomorrow, but still, we have raised a sizable chunk. Not to mention that our original goal was only 10k, which we have passed by a great deal.
At any rate, $12k is still pretty damned impressive.
*** Update ***
BTW- Several more super delegates for Obama, including two from Maryland and one at-large super, as well as reports that California supers once in the bag for Hillary are now wavering.
PeterJ
Super delegates are elitists.
Stooleo
Well with this news concerning the use of a “nuclear” option its not too suprising. Some super delegates might not want to explain to their constituents how the will of the people was overturned in a backroom deal.
Rick Taylor
Now this is surprising. Back in 2005, Hillary Clinton made the argument McCain is making now:
Guess that whole hundred years thing is off the table if she’s the nominee.
Walker
Did someone just give a lot of money? You are only $500 away from the goal. The banner reads 14.5k, not 12k.
Tim F.
Um yeah, it sure looks like somebody just dropped $2,000. Twenty minutes ago the thermometer read $12.5k.
jnfr
Wow! Good going, everyone.
Nicholas Weaver
Now which of Hillbot’s stupidities was that $20 from me from…
a) saying economists, policy experts, environmentalists, etc are irrelevant for her pandering.
b) her iranian comments
c) Nuclear option…
I gotta stop reading what Hillary Clinton and her campaign say, it gets to be an expensive habit.
lutton
woops, better raise that estimate of what you’re not going to reach to $20k
TheFountainHead
I want to give more this month but I just can’t handle the way my landlady glares at me!! It’s like she thinks she can get her money by piercing my soul with her eyes!
Fe E
In for the win. I don’t know who, but hey–good going!
Mary
Holy crap. I have money here, seriously, but I can’t give because I’m a damned socialist furriner. You guys are awesome, really.
Some Guy Named Matt
Actually I just checked and we did make it!!!
U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A!!!
Mary
It’s over 15K! GAH!!
Thomas
Topped it. John’s such a pessimist!
Ned Raggett
Whoever dropped that $2K, hats off to you.
Tax Analyst
I didn’t contribute to this because I’ve been throwing mine in this Obama site thingee of “Matching Contributions”. I’m not sure if anybody is really waiting to equal my contrib. or if they’re just folks who have already tossed in the same amount and they’re pairing up those with newbies who contribute, but I like the concept, so I’ve been doing it there.
Glad to see you’ve apparently passed the 15K without me, though.
Pooh
As my man Rod Benson would say, Boom Tho!
Genine
Wow! This is so exciting! Thanks to the big donors, the little donors and everyone in between!
JoshA
Wow. That turned out to be some great reverse psychology by John, although I don’t think it was intentional.
And to the person who donated 2k, you are amazing.
demimondian
Damn. I’d been holding [a large sum] in reserve to use as a challenge grant for this evening.
Sigh. Well, on to the general. I’m sure I’ll have another chance.
Krista
I bet it was myiq. He did it just to try to kill us all off with the shock. ;)
cleek
WTFs up w/WV ?
slag
Can you count $150 from me even if it didn’t go through the ActBlue page?
demimondian
Um, Cleek? Other than the fact that Barack Obama is Not Going to Win WV in the Fall (which we already kind of, like, knew), what’s the surprise?
Obama loses Appalachia. OK. Yup. Write it off. Too bad — those are the state which will benefit most from him being President — but you can’t force people to be smart about anything.
nightjar
ELITIST! just kidding. 2000, the max, wow . My 15 bucks could be that — with 20 years interest, or longer.
jrg
Astonishing, isn’t it? Why don’t we just give Dubya a “gender reassignment procedure” and put him in office for another 4 years? That seems like a compromise that HRC’s supporters would go for.
Only the ones that the Clintons cannot blackmail (I’m speculating because it seems impossible that the super delegates are so gutless that they are holding out for a more pragmatic purpose, but as a junior high school graduate, I’m an elitist, too, so WTF do I know?)
Punchy
WV is simply a red-neckier version of KY. And KY is about the most racist, meth-addled, hick state (them and Indiana battle for these titles) east of the Miss.
Show me an openly gay WV or strongly pro-black WVian today and I’ll show you a corpse next week.
cleek
56 / 27 ?
why is Obama so unpopular in WV ?
cleek
hmm. well, i guess that would do it.
demimondian
Because he’s beige.
Seriously. I’ll bet you that a large fraction of the 17% “undecided” voters are going to vote against the “black guy”, too.
Dork
Your euphanism, not theirs.
John Cole
I kinda told you all he would not win WV.
Hillary won’t either, for that matter.
merrinc
It’s nothing personal. Just the color of his skin. And not just WV but in Appalachia, where racism is alive, well, and not all that subtle. A diary at GOS last month recounted some creepy experiences in western NC as well – good ole boys stopping by a voter registration table to proclaim that they weren’t voting for a woman or a n***er.
