On Politico right now:
Obama’s toughest week yet
He’s been in office for two weeks.

[…] Politico says, this has been the toughest week for Obama yet. The Daschle withdrawl (which I’m glad to see) will be discussed endlessly for […]

I’m just waiting for the in-depth analysis of Obama’s failed presidency. Should be out next week I imagine.
cleek
is Politico trying to be the People magazine of political reporting?
Zifnab
And of them, this was the toughest. :-p
Besides, let’s get serious. Obama has been acting as President since November 4th. He just didn’t get the reigns of power until two weeks ago.
chopper
so far this has been the worst fortnight of obama’s entire presidency.

OT: Another appointee with tax issues has withdrawn.
The talking heads are now talking about a double standard because she’s female. This is going to be run into the ground by the wingers.
Faux News
Please let’s not insult the harmless fluff that is People Magazine.
Politico is trying to be the Tiger Beat of political reporting.
El Cid
The mainscream media are such hypocrites, treating their messiah Obama with kid gloves. We all remember how George W. Bush Jr. solved all our national problems in his first 3.5 hours, until Bill Clinton attacked the World Trade Centers and MoveOn.org tried to get Saddam Hussein to invade Montana.
Bootlegger
A 50-50 chance.
The Grand Panjandrum
The establishment media has evolved into a bunch of Drama Queens. I sure do miss Weekly World News. At least they reported regularly on the Bat Boy found in a cave.

Fixed.

Barack Obama is, without a doubt, the absolutely worst black president we’ve ever had.
He is also the worst Hawaiian-born president, the worst comic book collecting president, the worst president with the middle name "Hussein," and definitely the worst president whose father was an atheist goat-herder Luo tribesman from Kenya. Not to mention the worst Democratic president of the 21st Century and the worst president since the invention of the iPhone.
In fact, Barack Obama should already be called a miserable failure, for all of these reasons and many more.

I don’t see this headline you’re talking about…?
Media Browski
Well, it’s good to see the media (them, not me) finally ending their love-affair with Obama and starting to ask the serious questions. Questions like "What have you done for us in the past 14 days?"
Brick Oven Bill
17 Lobbyists (not including Daschle’s wife or Bill), 5 Executive Orders, 2 Cabinet tax cheats*, and telling a reporter to not ask a question. Not a bad two weeks. The honeymoon ends in 86 days. Then the job gets tougher.
*Live Update! 3 tax cheats, the Performance Czar falls.

@SGEW: Don’t forget the first president married to a woman of color.
I think its fair to say though that he is the best dancing president of this century, nay, this millennium.

Brilliant snark. I like it.

@smiley: This is a shame; she sounded like a great person for this job. This kind of tax peccadillo (household help) is extremely common, too.

I was always taught that you need at least three things to use the superlative, but the headline "The tougher of Obama’s two weeks" doesn’t quite have the same feel.
Jemerson48
Well look…if its not his toughest week as President then its certainly his second toughest. I just don’t get this squabbling over minutia…
Montysano (All Hail Marx & Lennon)
@Brick Oven Bill:
Eric? Eric Cantor? Is that you? Quit snarking on a blog and get back to work.
Wanker….

Better: "Obama’s Worst Week Ever"
And speaking of bad weeks… I invite you all to take my poll, on which is the greater (or greatest) political sin — i.e., what if anything will prevent a pol from being confirmed or elected or thrown out of office.
linda
and here’s politico’s question of the day:
Resting on stimulus?
Do you think President Obama’s chances of re-election rest on the success of his economic stimulus package?
Yes
No
Maybe a little
steve
it is painfully obvious obama is in way over his head…
sarah
did you take a screenshot, dougj? it’s not there anymore. it probably got wiped from their whiteboard.
i like the tiger beat comparison.
DougJ
No, I was in a hurry. I should have.
MNPundit
C’mon, they mean of his political life. I think that’s bull, Rev Wright was worse but then Politico are idiots we all knew that.
Brick Oven Bill
No Montesano; Not Eric Cantor, just a guy with too much time on my hands. But I am very happy today. I have successfully fixed the neck of my guitar, which one of the kiddies somehow snapped in half. So off to the guitar store to pick up a whole bunch of sets of strings, because they are metal, a good investment, and music is nice.
I’m a jet fuel genius, and can solve the world’s problems, by the way. It doesn’t even feel like I’m trying. I am going to learn that song when I get back from the guitar store.
Tsulagi
Yeah, didn’t see it either. But while on Politico did see this…
That’s funny. You gotta give that guy some credit. He keeps furiously humping that Gooper leg for all he can get. They throw him some bones to distract him like that Gaza “reporting,” but he quickly gets back on that leg.
Bootlegger
@steve: After W that’s a pretty low bar to set…
joe in oklahoma
but hey, it’s Politico!
what did you expect?
Tiger Beat indeed.
demimondian
Pardon my stupidity, but, for some reason, I was under the impression that "toughest" was a superlative. Is it not the case the one needs at least three items to apply a superlative?
Rainy
Uh, this is not his toughest week so far. If this is his worst week so far then he will always be at 70% approval rating.
Bill H
I will be thinking about that for weeks, and my associates’ conviction that I am completely bonkers will be reinforced as I keep breaking out in giggles in the midst of a business meeting.
jvill
It’s hard to argue against this week being worse than last week for President Obama.
Of course, it’s also hard to argue against the Politico’s method of examining Jim VandeHei’s toilet floaters for their insightful political analysis.
Fascist Hyena
"Tougher" would seem more appropriate.
By God, this is really beginning to look like amateur hour. A nation begins to squirm, and to wonder uneasily: what on earth ever led us to believe that this nice young man was up to the job?
