Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. keep building.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

“Alexa, change the president.”

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

That was weird. I got this message from wordpress on the first post or something. Then I started smelling sulfur come out of the tower and the audio went to what I think was Latin being spoken backwords. Everyone’s computer did that, right?

Since we seem to be in the middle of the summer doldrums how about some peak oil news. It will probably get here in 2020 or so, which is about 10 years ahead of previous predictions. And this is coming from the chief economis of the IEA. But that isn’t the REALLY good news.

There is now a real risk of a crunch in the oil supply after next year when demand picks up because not enough is being done to build up new supplies of oil to compensate for the rapid decline in existing fields.

Oh goody, just in time to fuck up the economic non-recovery. Time to by stock in Huffy and Trek.

Yaahhh! It turns out that Balloon Juice generally makes my weekends less boring. Who knew?

As it was, I had to turn to playing Sims 3 for entertainment. There all kinds of new personality traits to make your characters more interesting. For example, I have created a large woman who is insane, inappropriate, neurotic, and a genius. She gave birth to a baby whose only characteristic so far is “evil”.

However, I am disappointed that you have to force them to act out these traits. It seems like those traits would give you more self-directed action.

One interesting point . . . one of the ways you can have her act our her insanity is by clicking on another character and instructing her to “talk conspiracy theory”.

I imagine she’s discussing the Kenyan birth certificate.

For a hilarious (although exaggerated) Sims 3 experiment, check out Cracked.com’s Exploring the Mysteries of the Mind with the Sims 3

5 “site’s fucked up” threads mixed in among 48 DugJay bandwidth wasters =/= equal “fixed”.
