Does anyone even read that Big Hollywood junk? I mean, other than some of us here, for purposes of pointing and laughing?
And speaking of pointing and laughing, CBS is going to air a Katie Couric interview with Glenn Beck this evening, excerpts from which are making me think that he just might be a bigger, more accomplished actor than Big Hollywood could ever wrap their little tiny minds around.

@Ash Can. But wasn’t the point of the Times piece on Beck to suggest that very thing? That he’s just acting this role. He doesn’t believe any of it. If that’s true and becomes widely known, it’ll do him far more harm that any fisking could.

I call spoof. Conservatives are NEVER outraged by something genuinely outrageous. Unless this is part of their burgeoning “Bush was a closet Commie” meme, I call bullshit.
Dave, while as a theoretical matter I think you are correct, as a practical matter that is simply hypothetical. Conservatives think Colbert is really on their side, that is how disconnected they are. Beck could go on Courics show and all but say that the people who watch him are the worlds biggest rubes without it hurting his ratings or standing with conservatives. They would just somehow rationalize it in their minds.

Rushbag was already blasting away on his radio show about the NEA teleconference yesterday, suggesting that the call broke some federal laws. Because if the Rethugs are about anything, they are about making sure that no one is above the law. And by no one, they mean Democrats.
Days and days of teasing this information as some bombshell revelation and they came up with this?
I’m very disappointed. The outrage du jour has seemed to lose some steam.

I tried to read the link but got confused. Maybe it’s too early in the morning for me or maybe I just am too sane to follow the convolutions involved in what gets conservatives outraged. Meh.

It’s not like Obama is using tax payer dollars to pay for phony news reports to boost his prescription drug program, or co-opts Judy Miller to flog WMD’S to plant a story so Cheney can go on MTP to cite the story his minions basically wrote to sell a war and get lots of folks killed.
Or Obama is waging on a war on science using astro turfed phony wingnut think tanks to lie about global warming, mercury and other air pollutants etc….. etc…………etc………….

A couple of things you liberals need to understand.
1) It’s OK if you are a Republican.
2) Nothing is more unamerican than community service. If you must perform community service, then you should be proselytizing as well. That’s what federal funds are for.*
*If you’re a conservative Christian.

@jrg: The great thing about being a “conservative Christian” is that you don’t technically have to follow the teachings of Jesus, who was, after all, a communist.
This is a viewed as “feature” of conservative Christianity, not a defect.

By the way, anyone who hasn’t read it already read Chait’s review on TNR of a couple of books on Ayn Rand. It gives you real insight in conservatives distain for things like service to the community.

Yes, and no. If a Republican behaves like a communist, Jesus is probably cool with it, so long as the government redistribution in question is accompanied by a demand to believe in talking snakes.

In a video posted recently to YouTube, [Kirk] Cameron lays out a plan to subvert ‘Darwin Day’ on November 22, 2009 — a date marking the 150th anniversary of the publishing of Charles Darwin’s “Origin of Species.” Cameron says that he and like-minded activists plan to deliver 50,000 copies of an altered version of Darwin’s book to students at dozens of U.S. universities.
Cameron explains that this “very special” edition of the “Origin of Species” will include an introduction explaining “Adolf Hitler’s undeniable connection” to the theory of evolution, and highlighting “Darwin’s racism” and “his disdain for women.” Cameron’s edition also exposes the “many hoaxes” of evolutionary theory, while presenting a “balanced view of Creationism.”
nice. maybe on easter i’ll start handing out my own version of the bible, the one where jesus was a charlatan and a drug addict. i’ll call it a ‘balanced look’ at christian theology. i’ll make sure to mail a copy to cameron.
