Sounds like you caught wind of King Ben of Nebraska’s latest fiat. Whocouldaknowed that “good enough” would still be “too good” for the principled center?
This blog badly needs a picture of Lily, or better, Tunch looking humiliated in his Steelers garb.

Teh kitteh. I’m leaning toward Smudge for a name. She was spayed today, along with rabies shots. she’s resting, and I will pick her up tomorrow morning, so expect more photos.

Cute pic.

The bill which finally passes will be a centrist’s wet dream. Every single person in the country (except Obama) will hate it for one reason or another, and the number of people who hate it or don’t hate it on any given element of the package will be perfectly balanced with exactly 50% on each side, for every single point in the bill. It wil be the political equivalent of an Pareto optimal solution, solving for maximum fubar.

We’ll see you in a few minutes.

@arguingwithsignposts: She is adorable!
My husband and I have been debating getting two cats for months. We had two adults we were going to rescue back in October but they were so awesome that their foster family decided to keep them.
I think we’re going to take the plunge after the holiday season.

@ThatLeftTurnInABQ:
I can hardly wait for Chris Matthews to tell us that since no one likes it, it must be exactly right. Oh, and that thinking about Ben Nelson’s and Joe Lieberman’s negotiating prowess sends a tingle up his leg.

@arguingwithsignposts: Moar pics plz. kthxbai.

Cute–Smudge would be perfect. I like the defensive tail wrap and wrinkled brow–“Hey, where are you going with that scalpel, Doc?”

DVR Alert
My favorite film noir, Out of the Past (1947), is showing at 6:00 a.m. EST Saturday on Turner Classics. Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, Kirk Douglas. Excellent cinematography, tight script and a surprisingly nuanced performance from Mitchum. Highly recommended. Just watch the opening scene, and if you’re not sucked in I’ll agree to leave it there.

jc: Bravo.
awsp: I still like smudge but now can’t help breaking out into “on top of old smokey!”

@arguingwithsignposts:
You can’t call her smudge! that’s my senior advanced kitty’s name.
truthfully, Smudge would be proud to share the name with a worthy cat.
John C., enjoy the silence. I will be heading out to Avatar.

Can we have a different flame war today, just for a change of pace?
Mac vs. Windows, inclusive vs. exclusive ENDA, Yankees vs. Real Madrid – which is the true center of all that is evil in the Universe. Any of those would be a real improvement.
Oh, and this

The doc just said my BP is jacked up way to high. I refuse to have a stroke over internecine political warfare. Only pet and photo threads for me till this shit gets settled, one way or another in congress. And nothing I nor anyone else says on BJ will make one wit of difference to the final outcome.

I am insanely jealous because I have to work and cannot watch Avatar.

Jim Inhofe’s ridiculous Copenhagen trip to warn the world of the global warming hoax. Love it.
See it here.

@burnspbesq:
Maybe we can start flaming morans who post busted links :o)
danimal
@General Winfield Stuck: You mean Senator Nelson isn’t hunched over her computer reading every comment here?
Burst my balloon.
danimal
Ooops. Senator Snowe. Senator Nelson is, I’m sure, hunched over his computer reading the BJ comment threads.

@dr. bloor:
You should thank whatever Deity you worship that that link didn’t work.

@General Winfield Stuck: Agreed, no posts about the fucking HCR for me.
How about a sausage thread?

Or fruit cakes?
Yummy yummy fruit cakes.

@Steeplejack:
Man, they truly broke the mold after Mitchum, Douglas. And after Saturday afternoon, I will be able to DVR!

On a brighter note, I got a free lunch today. Cash register at Freebird’s was busted (or something, I couldn’t tell exactly what was up), and the cashier was more interested in keeping the line moving than collecting payments. I think there was some implication that we would come up to pay after eating, but by then, the line was out the door anyway.
It uplifts my disposition enough that I might be able to jump into the health care threads for five minutes!

@burnspbesq:
Lieberman, Nelson and a goat in fishnets?
Steeplejack
@BruceFromOhio:
No, the colorizing beast seems to have been killed. I haven’t seen a victim of that in years. Out of the Past is in glorious black and white. And it has really nice contrasts between typically noir sequences and some sun-infused sections in Mexico and around Lake Tahoe. I’m telling you, Jerry, this movie is gold. Pure gold. I’d even go so far as to say it’s the Robert Mitchum movie for people who don’t like Robert Mitchum. (Assuming they remember Robert Mitchum.)

@BruceFromOhio:
Sausage, dammit, sausage I say!

@arguingwithsignposts:
Do you believe I went to sleep last night thinking about all the names suggested for your cat, and thinking, “Smudge, I like that” ? It’s true! BJ does some weird things to my head.
(no jokes on the BJ/head thing pls – I know, it’s a straight line if I ever saw one…)

I think one thing we can always count on at this blog is Cole reneging on any statement (implied or otherwise) that he intends to completely ignore a topic that’s burning up the interwebs. Thank God!

How about a sausage and pet thread?

So, do we have any xbox Left 4 Dead 2 players here in BJ land? If so, I think we should get together this weekend for a little zombie killing and snarky chat. If anyone is interested, my XBL tag is PUNCH2URSOUL, or you can email me at [email protected]

@dr. bloor:
You wish.

@arguingwithsignposts:
Can’t wait to see more pictures of Smudge. Great choice of name….

@Trinity:
Go for it. And, two is always a great idea, and no more work.

@General Winfield Stuck:
How’s Charlie? Time for a new picture. I keep thinking of him “spooning” your legs at night. Toooo cute.

@Annie:
Thanks Annie!. I put up one last night on a late thread. Here is link to my photostream.
He is such a sweetheart, and I love the little guy to no end.:)

@Third Eye Open:
I have Left4Dead, as do our kids. We are running two L4D game servers 24/7 from home, one is private to our Steam Group and the other is public and open to anyone. I take care of the server end here and our daughter admins them. While I have the game I haven’t played it much because of the endless work I bury myself in. I keep telling myself that I need to go blast shit to let off some steam but I keep grinding away at work. Damned type A personalities!
I am definitely setting aside time this holiday season to go zombie hunting. I’ll be sure to let you know when that happens…lol! Maybe I ought to set up another server just for BJ zombie killers.
Seems to be a lot of zombies around here lately. ;)
R-Jud
Snow! And possibly a white Christmas! I’m officially excited now.

@DougL (frmrly: Conservatively Liberal): Thats awesome, the family that pwns together, stays together … or something like that. My dad plays too, but he is a computer player. In fact he constantly laughs at me for playing an “inferior” version of the game. If you’re interested in playing sometime in the near to medium future, drop me a line, or just add me as a friend. I would love to have some people to play with that don’t enjoy talking smack without any skills to back it up.
DougL (frmrly: Conservatively Liberal)
@Third Eye Open:
Yer Dad is right, you are playing lame if you aren’t on a pc! ;)
Seriously, our daughter will tease you to no end if you are on a game box…lol! She is a total computer geek though that is my fault because she grew up with my geeky influence and a house full of computers to play with. We now have ten systems here with at least four going 24/7, and that’s not counting the systems I am either building or repairing…lol!
She is a Garry’s Mod nut (I am still in GM basic training and am still learning how to wreak havoc) and just a gamer in general. We run ‘good’ servers (we screw off constantly and run off any assholes that try to make life miserable for others) and she is always looking for some new way to screw off in the game.
We like fun. :)
I will talk to her after she is off work and give her your handle so she can friend you, I will do the same when I am on my gaming pc later on today.
Before writing this I just came back from checking the game servers and had to restart them since there have been new updates to the server side. Our HLDS/SRCDS servers are running on Linux, not Windoze. Same with our Uru:ABM server that we have been running for years, but that hardly gets any traffic anymore. Uru was dead-ended by the company who owns it but some people are still running the public servers (shards). It’s free to play but no new content is available though we do have some interesting ways to play with the game that the makers never intended…lol.
Well, back to work for a bit. Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.
Third Eye Open
@DougL (frmrly: Conservatively Liberal): Y’know, I have been building PCs for over ten years now, and I understood about a third of what you just said. But, as long as you know what you’re doing I am totally down to kill some zombies and knock back a few craft beers. I hope to hear from you soon, work well; but if you can’t, fake it.
