Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

In my day, never was longer.

Rand Paul could be Goldwater on steroids, which is one thing, but he gives me that Greg Stillson vibe.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised, and pretty optimistic so far. Dems are holding on to a bunch of house seats and senate seats, but we’d apparently rather feed a third-rate troll and bitch about Jane Hamsher.

Sick, but cleaned myself up and voted. My Dems will all cruise to victory, but I’m crossing my fingers for Ami Bera to be a Dem pick up in the House. He’d be a great improvement over Lundgren.

Van Hollen Gets Feisty Over News Of Network Calling House For GOP

“DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen paid a visit to DNC head quarters to tell reporters that despite early losses, he still thinks Democrats can keep the House.

“Those were the [seats] who were expected to be called,” he said of the first returns.

When a reporter from a different outlet told him that her network had already called a GOP takeover of the House, a visibly flustered Van Hollen insisted repeatedly “I think that’s a mistake.”

The Reason Blog has pointed me to this surprising news in the American Conservative…

Return of the RINO: The Tea Party isn’t the only force on election day. Moderate Republicans are looking to reclaim House seats in suburban districts across the country and have several Senate candidates. This is the most under-reported story of this election cycle…

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The only thing worse than hearing about our center-right country will be the new found insistence that Republicans really are serious about governing and not in fact worthless assholes. Fantastic.

Yes while Rand Paul has won it’s looking — knock on wood — as if he’ll still be in the Senate minority party.

So, you know, all things considered … it’s about what we thought.

@Spaghetti Lee: Dems are doing decently in the Senate. Getting killed in the House, though. Republicans have won or are leading more seats than they had coming in, and NY and everywhere west of the Rockies haven’t even begun coming in. Either they need to find a LOT of votes in races already reporting, or they need to sweep everywhere that polls are still open.

Back in the mid-1970s, there was a widespread belief among Denver Bronco fans that Howard Cosell didn’t give their team sufficient respect. So a local bar had a promotion every Monday night during football season. They ran a raffle for charity, and the winner got to throw a brick through a TV when Cosell did the halftime highlights. Raised a shitload of money.

Perhaps we could do the same thing every time Boehner or McConnell are on teevee. Proceeds to ActBlue.

I think it’s total BS for any network to call for the house when voters across the country hae not voted. It’s bad enough that they start in on races where the polls have closed but to call for the house takeover is completely unethical.

The reason Dems are getting smashed in the House and not the Senate? You can’t redistrict a Senate seat, baby. The redistricting process means there are about 30 to 40 truly competitive seats. A lot of those went Democratic last go round. A bit of an overcorrection the other way this way around.

I don’t see this as the complete disaster for Democrats, this evening.

We have 10% unemployment and massive economic problems, foreclosures out the ass, and the Republicans got one chamber back. One.

Also, some key races are going our way.

What good is having one of those old tube TVs if you don’t throw it when it gives you terrible news?

    Mr. Neely is missing out.

@Southern Beale: It looks that way, but if the tally ends at 50 or 51, expect two things:

    1) Lieberdouche finally flips to the R side, probably after stopping by the White House to thank Obama for his support with an atomic wedgie.

    2) Republicans find some excuse to keep at least one Dem from being seated. Close election, ginned up scandal, whatever they can latch on to as an reason.

Luckily it looks like we’ll get 52-53, which at least has the happy result of making Lieberman completely irrelevant.
