Max demonstrates more innate intelligence than Andrew L. Gasser (see previous thread for details.)
By orders of magnitude.

And now, my two-hour commute home from downtown DC. I shall take the memories of a well-lighted Max along to keep me smiling among the crowds.

Beautiful dog, beautiful setting, beautiful photo. Where was that taken? The cobblestone path leading to what looks like the park is incredibly inviting.
President Obama has set his sights on extending a temporary payroll tax holiday and extending unemployment insurance in order to get more money into the hands of consumers and stimulate demand. He is also backing a proposal to set up a national infrastructure bank to fund more projects as a means of adding construction jobs.
…
Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) Budget Committee argues against accepting the proposals because they would be costly.
… It estimates that the payroll tax deduction would cost $112 billion, the insurance would cost $45 billion and the bank $23 billion over 10 years. Factoring in additional interest payments brings the cost to $250 billion.

apparently a tremendous response to ratigan’s rant; he’s calling in to his show now and it sounds like he’s thinking of how to mobilize people in some way. this could take an interesting turn

I have been working all day and have absolutely no idea what this means.
Edit: I also have no idea what “nice nabe” means. Is this blog still in english, or did we switch to another language overnight?

Friends keep sending me info about Americans Elect but when I go to the website there is NO information about who the people are who put up the website. Anyone here heard of it?

There is some hope. In an otherwise banal story about the deficit hitting a trillion bucks, Yahoo News gives some background on how we got here.
The government last recorded a budget surplus in 2001, when revenues were $127 billion greater than spending. The surpluses were expected to total $5.6 trillion over the next decade. But the country was back in the red by 2002. The deficits grew after President George W. Bush won approval for broad tax cuts, pushed a major drug benefit program for seniors and launched the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The narrative may actually be trending towards the truth. Took a damned decade, but who’s complaining?
Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) Budget Committee argues against accepting the proposals because they would be costly.
I hate these people. They are evil with a smile of the kind you see when there are enough of them to validate such evil as a common virtue, to make it seem not evil, and call it principle and tell each other in their wingnut churches, where their wingnut preachers tell them they are doing god’s work, and not to listen to liberal bleedy hearts, who worship Satan and steal rich peoples money to help the godless beggars.
They would be just peachy letting the poor starve to death as a republican social program to cull the polluters from the fair haired gene pool. After saving just enough of them to flip burgers and mow their lawns for table scraps to keep breathing.

Some dogs need to grow into their paws, Max needs to grow into his chest. That thing practically drags on the ground–how much does he benchpress?

So thanks for mentioning this and I guess I’ll see you around the nabe. :-)

Careful with those cobblestones on his paws. I was in Denver years ago and I took my friend’s yellow lab on a run in a park with that kind of surface. He never limped or balked at all but when we got back his pads were shredded.

@Raven (formerly stuckinred): I hadn’t seen tweety in about 2 years – just had to quit keith and tweety and even rachel. But I saw him for maybe 3 minutes while I was waiting for obama to speak earlier this week and he was ALL WRONG about his interpretation of whatever the hell it was he was talking about. Made me crazy.
I’d like for you to see him on the street sometime, too. :-) That would be much more effective than my seeing him on the street, though he would certainly get a piece of my mind.

Apparently there are some kinds of tax cuts Paul Ryan doesn’t think increase revenue:

Is that perhaps Riverview park, north side, Pittsburgh?

Thanks to everyone for the feedback!

Great shot, Tim.
Lemme guess: You were shooting east and Max was facing west about 7:30 in the evening sometime this week.

Ah! Now I see, the street with that amazing Victorian pile and grounds with a genuine architectural folly. Haven’t been for a while, must go.
